Punishing platformer Cloudberry Kingdom is out this week

6:00 PM on 07.30.2013

Wow. I had completely forgotten a) Cloudberry Kingdom, that brutal-looking platformer with randomly-generated levels, even exists and b) that it was originally funded via Kickstarter -- with a $20,000 goal, no less. Guess what? It's out this week! On PlayStation Network (today), Xbox Live Arcade/Steam (July 31), and Wii U eShop (August 1). There's also a PlayStation Vita version planned for "later this year."

This should appeal to those of us who enjoy the challenge of, say, Super Meat Boy with the unpredictability of recent roguelikes. I still think the art style is a bit gross, but it's better than the original pitch for Cloudberry Kingdom and it does get the job done. More than anything, I'm dying to give the co-op a try. There's going to be lots of yelling. Sorry, neighbors.

La-Mulana 2 aims to be more 'intuitive,' still hard as heck

La-Mulana was regarded by some as the hardest game ever. This isn't going to change, though Nigoro's Takami Naramura wants it to be slightly more intuitive so perhaps all those deaths don't lead to warranted frustration and ...more
