Remember the recent rumor that Nintendo was going to announce a retro revival "everyone was waiting for" at its press conference this morning? Well, there are arguably several games that could describe this (nice job, Nintendo!), but I am assuming the mega company was referring to its reveal that Punch-Out!! is coming to the Wii.
Was "everyone" waiting for this? I’m not sure, but I do know I am currently one happy mo-fo that is jumping up and down with glee in front of his computer. Punch-Out!! is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises of all time and its inclusion on the Wii is awesome and, honestly, pretty inevitable.
As you can see by the above video and gallery screens, not much has changed: Little Mac is back and he will be fighting a variety of fighters in an incredibly refreshing, nostalgic art style. While I would sell my first born to find out the list of all the fighters, it seems weakling Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, and extra massive King Hippo are the only ones confirmed (could this be a remake of the original?).
Enough chit-chat. What do you all think? Was this the retro revival you were hoping for? Do you like the updated look? How do you think the game will control (Wiimote/Balance Board combo?)? Which classic Punch-Out!! fighter would you love to see make a grand return?

I mean, croissants flying out of Glass Joe's head? AWESOME! And the game's art style is GORGEOUS.
You are right. I am ashamed. What was I thinking?!
Because they based Little Mac on me!
While waiting for them to get ready, I made my internet rounds and saw the announcement of this. No words could describe the smile that came across my face, and needless to say that it kept me awake for that two hours.
What can I say other than I love it. It looks amazing and it seems to be staying faithful to its roots.
But if I had to be honest, while I love the classic route they seem to be taking, I was sort of hoping they'd go in a different direction. Maybe I'm just looking for more than pattern memorization this time around.
Anyway, it's too early to be bitching about this kind of stuff. Here's hoping that they have one ass kicking boss however.
I can't wait for this one.
Here's what I want: NO WIIMOTE controls. Or at least an option to turn them off.
ALSO: Soda Popinski needs to make his return as Vodka Drunkenski.
I'm not sure about it yet but I admit I'm FREAKIN' EXCITED
Also the remix of the training music is AWESOME!!!
My bad.
Looks like it plays alot like punch out.
Wich is obvoiusly good.
Better have online play.
Maybe a boxer maker.
Though they'll probly just throw in miis :/
Still, thats the solid boxing game I was hoping for.
Can't Wait
I just hope that there is the option to use buttons instead of waggle.

I'm going to go have a shower now.
Even more kudos for Sin and Punishment 2. Thanks for listening.
Now if we can just get Sega, to do more Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon.
That is too sweet!
The music gave me nostalgic chills!
Seeing Glass Joe, Von Kaiser and tha extra massive King Hippo blew my freakin' mind!
Thanks, Chad!
And thank you, Nintendo!
Now I gotta go play Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!!
:)
Hope Soda Popinski and Super Macho Man make the cut!
Wonder how this version will control?!
Can't wait!
I can be excited about nintendo again!
