Publishers interested in localizing 3D Dot Game Heroes photo

At the beginning of the week, I promised that I'd make it my mission to find out about the Western release of 3D Dot Game Heroes, the brilliant looking action RPG that Zelda copied everything from. My first stop was to chat with Sony, since the game's a PS3 exclusive, and I was told that there was publisher buzz around the project at TGS, although no confirmations were able to be made.

So, I decided to hit up the usual suspects, the publishers who would most likely be localizing a game such as this. I'm sure you can guess which publishers they are, but if you haven't, they were NIS, Atlus and XSEED. The latter is yet to respond, but the others were more than happy to comment.

"3D Dot Heroes is indeed a very interesting and amazing game," states NIS. "Actually, we have been asked by some other media about this game. At this moment, we do not have plans to release this title, however, we would love to do so if the opportunity arises."

I also asked Atlus' PR department, forgetting that I once said an Atlus rep sounded like Scooby Doo. He did not forget, and his first response was "ROOBY ROO?" When I then stated how much I hate getting my comeuppance, Atlus' Aram Jabbari very kindly answered, stating that he knows nothing of a Western release, but that he'd "love" to see it come Westward.

So, early investigation seems to indicate that nobody has openly made a move for the game, but that people are very keen to see it come this way. I think that pretty much confirms the inevitability of somebody publishing the game in America, but I shall not rest until I get an official launch announcement in my grasping talons.

If not Atlus then XSeed, NIS or Ignition Entertainment. Either way, I want this game so bad.

Please Atlus. You did it with Demon's Souls, do it again with 3D Dot Game Heroes. =)

Either that or From Software releases an Asian version (like Demon's Souls again) and i'll be satisfied XD

I bet Atlus will get this for a western release. This just seems right up their alley.

Atlus would be the most likely candidate, already having ties with From Software. I think it may hinge on the success of Demon's Souls.

America needs this game, it would be stupid not to localize. I'm so glad you're persistent in getting the info we all want to hear! Hope we find out more soon. =)

Yes, this game most definitely needs to come out with some English subtitles. I would import immediately. I still may anyway. A full-on NA release would be cool too with art book and soundtrack and building blocks and such. Something this rare and wonderful comes by not so often.

I don't know why From Software bothers with Sony sometimes. Demon's Soul is the best game in existence and a masterpiece from From Software. Yet its been totally ingnored by their publisher (Sony) and being released by Atlus in the states (even though the game had FULL English, and completely translated, since its release in February for the Asian-version).

Regardless, 1 more month till release!!! I'll import this one!

I swear, if they all have this interest, and it somehow falls through the cracks because all of them want it but wait on the sidelines...
I will be very upset, and have to start an online petition, where "an online petition" means importing it

Great investigation. I do want to see this come to the US.
Now Jin, acn you do the same thing regarding Yakuza 3 and Yakuza Kenzan! ?
Those are other games I really want to see it in the US.

I'm so glad to see that you followed up on this game Jim, it's definitely one of my most anticipated games right now. Even if I haven't been able to purchase a PS3 by the time it's localized I'd snap this right up if Atlus included some of those nifty preorder bonuses they're so good at.

This isn't just a Zelda rip off right? It's the whole 'Play, Create, SHARE!!!' thing right? That's what I thought... Like LBP the developers have made this Zelda game as an example and the minions can then go off and make their final fantasy 6's and their Secret of Manas.
