Psst: Need a cheap 20GB hard drive for your Xbox 360 Arcade? photo

How does $29.99 sound for a 20GB hard drive? Not bad, eh?

As you know, the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle is nicely priced, but some of that low price is due to the absence of a hard drive. And not having one means missing out on high-def video downloads and other features. This deal at Xbox.com is a great way to add one on for cheap.

Okay, so it's refurbished, but you can't complain at $29.99. Hell, at this price, they're almost disposable. With this limited time offer, you'll also get three months of Xbox Live Gold service, making the deal even more attractive.

I'm tempted to just pick up a spare one at that price, but I will feel like a douchebag if it just ends up sitting on my shelf the whole time. Which it probably would. Then again, with the option to install games to the hard drive...

Do you need to recover your gamer tag if you switch between two HDs? If so, fuck that. Not worth it.

@Char Aznable: That is the EXACT same argument that I'm having with myself right now... then again, they're going for about $30-40 on eBay anyway, so even if I don't use it I could just sell it and break even.

This "special offer" from MS used to be a mere $19.99 for a refurbished 20GB 360 HDD. Seems that it's caught wind with a lot of people and Microsoft just had to be a great neighbor and jack up the price on defec--, I men "refurbished" products.

Goddamnit... MS is only offering the 20GB hard drive to Xbox Arcade owners. You have to put in your console serial number and ID, at which point it knows what type of system you already have. Lame, but smart of 'em, I guess.

Yeah, these used to be 20 bucks but now they are throwing in 3 months of live. I meant to get on this earlier but never got around to it. Flippin' heck.

They started this over a month ago...not sure why it's being posted now.

The $20 deal is for Xbox 360 CORE owners...their systems came without a hard drive OR memory card.

The $30 deal is for Xbox 360 ARCADE owners...these systems came with memory cards, which would technically be large enough for the NXE.

I bought a new Arcade console immediately after they announced this...got the hard drive w/in a week. Refurbed, but works fine!

@Peetah

Jelous much?

This deal is a joke anyways, right after MS accounced the 60GB model target put all their 20GB hd's on clearance for $20 before MS ever started selling the referbs.

You can get a brand new 160 GB 2.5" SATA hard drive for $49.99 at Newegg.com. Of course, it isn't blessed by Microsoft, so you can't actually put it in a 360. It seems to me that Microsoft is fucking over its users quite thoroughly. "One hell of a deal" this certainly isn't.

Super old news, but great for the cheapskates that would buy the Arcade in the first place.
