Yesterday, Sony reported that PSPgo sales were "in line with expectations," but refused to give any figures. There might be a reason for that, if UK retailer ShopTo is to be believed. According to the skeptical seller, the expensive PSPgo isn't shifting much at all.
"PSPgo has seen a slow start for ShopTo and we have kept stock quite tight in consideration," explains the seller. "We remained at the RRP for PSPgo so that we can achieve the maximum margin considering that there will be no further software sales for this format for us as an e-tailer."
Yesterday, a number of UK retailers had decided to drop the price of the PSPgo after only a few days of sale. It's quite possible that the price drop was a reaction to a less-than-stellar launch of the PSPgo, which appears to have had a rather quiet and unenthusiastic reception all over the place.
Maybe Sony will eventually get the message that releasing expensive hardware and expecting people to buy it just because it's got "Sony" written on the box might not be such a hot idea right now.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Mah, but actually I'm quite happy with my Go. I've been playing it non stop and I'm really digging this whoe DD-thing.
It's the future and I'm liking it. Needless to say that it's just such a sleek gadget.
Oh and also: I have yet to see someone regretting purchasing the Go. Everyone seems to love it.
Slow news day?
It'll be interesting to watch over the next year. The biggest problem is the PSPgo has no killer app and it's hard when the PSP-3000 can do the same thing. Maybe if the PSPgo got games in advance. I dunno.

Then you haven't read this yet but it's great that you like the go as I was starting to feel a little bad for the thing. It's not it's fault that it's treated like crap.
This would have cut less into the PSPs battery life as a result. Does it now not make them look even more stupid, when they are allowing that very same/similar thing, via PSN PSP rental and digital games? Combine this with a resonable PSP 1-3k price drop and good advertising and it would surely sell better.
Shops would happy with physical PSP games, while others could be sold digitally via PSN, and we could all live happily ever after. Obviously too much info for Sony to think about at once.
PSP Go in officially this gens Virtual Boy.
It's a shame because as a device it's really quite lovely. I just think Sony should have kept this concept for a totally new PSP rather than making it a more exspenive version of the real PSP.
Are they clueless? Sony constantly seem to be out of touch with what a large proportion of the gaming public want these days. It's shameful. Plus they're way too arrogant and proud to admit to any wrongdoing, so they'll continue to steadfastly 'sell' their Gos at too high a price.
