PSP software update v4.01 incoming, totally boring photo

Yeah, we know this is an incremental update (.01, baby!), so we shouldn't expect much from PlayStation Portable software update v4.01. But it goes live in the next few hours, and we figured that we should let you know so you don't start yelling "OMG! What duz it dooz?"

Prepare yourself for this excitement:

  • Display of search results under Internet Search has been improved for certain languages.
  • Playback of video content under Video has been improved for certain file types.

Not sure what kind of video content playback has been improved, but if you're not experiencing problems, we wouldn't worry too much about it. As it stands, the installation is going to be the most exciting part of this update.

Vanilla PSP updates taste like boiled tofu. Homebrew updates taste like a three-course meal. All at the same time!

4.00 was a disappointment on it's own. Why fix the minuscule bugs in 4.01 when they gave the last update personality.

I'll just cross my fingers and hope that Sony is just teasing us and make a practical update soon.

you mean people actually upgraded to 4.00?

I thought everyone was on 3.9 M33-3?

ZOMG! This is awesome!

Also, I'l upgrade my firmware when they throw in some G.P.P. on my PSP. Until then, I'll just keep hoping to not-emulate some not-roms.

I've had my PSP for a month. This will be the fourth time I've had to update my firmware in that span. Good times.
