Have a few spare bucks to spend on your PSP and can't find anything at the game shop (again)? If you enjoy hacks, model helicopters, and want to show something extremely gratuitous off to your grandmother the Picooz/Fairy IR remote control PSP hack may be of interest. The helicopter can be picked up at Amazon or at Radioshack for about $25 and comes with a small, totally unsexy controller that you can flush immediately. Instead, you can use a firmware hack (1.50 on a fat PSP) to fire up the controller software. The software is in French but there's an English readme with all the dirty deets. When you're all rigged up you can use these simple controls while making horrible Chopper Command sounds with your mouth:
Select the communication Channel then select your Flight Mode with the right trigger (Mode 1 or 2) and then use these general controls:
Triangle/Cross Throttle UP / Throttle Down
Square/Rond Trim Left / Trim Right
Analogic Stick Left and Right
If you press the left trigger and Triangle or Cross, you’ll amplify the severity by three.
Legal notice: Destructoid does not endorse the torture of small animals, siblings, or unsuspecting neighborhood mailmen visiting your mom that may be injured by this device. You can also void your PSP warranty and turn it into a handsome paperweight if you don't know what you're doing. We would however love to see a video of all of the above -- if you get this working send in an action video!
