I can't say that I've ever listened to music on my PSP. Sure, I thought about doing it once just to see what it was like, but then I realized what a waste of time it'd be since my memory card was nearly full at the time and I didn't give Apple a handful of cash just to not use my iPod.

Those of you who do use your PSP for occasional music playing, however, will want to be on the lookout for the latest firmware update which is set to be released "soon."

All we know about v4.05 is that it'll bring along some new music visualizers, which isn't terribly exciting in and of itself, so hopefully that's not all it will bring when it becomes available in the near future.

Grim:

It's already out. I upgraded last night. And what it adds is indeed minimal..ONE Visual Visualizer and it allows you you to play music from the XMB i.e. while perusing through pics and what not.

That's it.

@Yojimbo - you already could listen to music while looking at pics, cant remember when they added that but it was a while ago.

I really hope Sony dedicates itself more to their next iteration of the PSP. I really think it had to the potential to be a great jack of all trades sort of device but everything sorta fell apart (in my eyes) once Sony tried to force the UMD format.

If they can make a device that simply plays (good) games and music (I honestly don't care much about movies on the go) and do both of those tasks really well (aka better than the iPod and iPod touch are attempting), they can have my money.

Luckily there are no new must have games coming out,so my psp might be safe from forced upgrading for a little while.*sigh*,maybe it wont take the hackers too long to counteract this "update".

Ok...new visualizers....yay. Now why would i want to look at the screen and watch swirls of light when i could be playing a game on it.

ofcourse it had to be the black PSPm but i guess if it was the white one it would raise questions...in fact so would the silver one or rather the silver would be too reflective... but the red would would just be cause for concern, lol
