Earlier this summer Sony debuted their PSP Favorites line of games, which gives gamers the most popular titles for the system for less than $10. Some are available now, and more are coming soon. The PlayStation Blog has an update on the Favorites line, which is now nearly 25 titles strong. Here's what's out now:
- Ape Escape: On the Loose
- Buzz! Master Quiz
- Hot Shots Golf Open Tee
- Justice League Heroes
- LocoRoco 2
- Manhunt 2
- Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play
- Patapon 2
- Pinball Hall of Fame
- PixelJunk Monster Deluxe
- Silent Hill: Origins
- The Sims 2
- SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo
- Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow
- Twisted Metal: Head On
- The Warriors
As far as what's coming, expect to see Burnout Legends, Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded, Capcom Classics Collection: Remix, Dark Stalkers: Chaos Tower, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Medal of Honor: Heroes, and Sid Meier’s Pirates! in the near future. On top of that, they hint at the line expanding this holiday season.
There's some good stuff in here! My thinking is that if they can stick these on a disc for $10, why not put them up for download for $5. I know that's a silly dream, but I'd buy...hell, I'd buy just about all of them for $5. Not that $10 isn't a good deal.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Maybe its because of the 3DS.
AFter all they havent really anounces anything that may counter the 3DS.
Could be, but its not out for several months. I guess its possible 3DS hype could have put a dent in their sales, and that a price cut could be an effort to stimulate sales and interest. It'll probably sell more units than Marcus anyway.
My own curiosity about the PSP2 could be coloring my analysis. I'd love to see what Sony is going to bring to the table. Not like the have to barn storm Kinnect 24-7 at TGS.
I always thought that a handheld that reads the pulse of your heart and translates that into gameplay changes would be kinda cool as well as being one of the few ideas that doesnt have to do with graphics or how cool shiny tech is.
Oh sure its similar to the Nintendo's Vitality Sensor but that hasnt came out yet and its possibilities and contributions to games would have been butchered by the tons of shovelware out there.
Another idea is a camera that is infront of the screen that captures the emotions of the player.Or atleast to register when he is looking at the screen and when he is not to atleast pause the game.
Having said that, I have my first PSP arriving tomorrow and I'm pretty excited about it. I don't expect it to come anywhere close to rivaling my DS, but opening more gaming doors is always good.. especially when those doors cost next to nothing to open.
Yeah I passed on that one because it was virtual download. If it's on disc, and for only 10$ then I'm all for it.
Those could have interesting game play applications. It wouldn't surprise me for Sony to go with something out of the blue like that to differentiate the PSP2 from the 3DS.
@smoger
That is an excellent point as well. Really, I think both Nintendo and Sony are fighting the iPhone marketplace far more than either of them would like to admit.
I'm hoping that iPhone could lead to a strategic shift in how those the successors to the PSP and DS handle digital content, price specifically. Both have substantial libraries of content they could mine, but lets be honest. I'd download Super Mario Land 2:Six Golden Coins or the original Wipeout in heartbeat, but I not if its more than a few dollars.
Enjoy your PSP. I know there aspects of it that are easy to hate on. Goodness knows I have, but there is a solid library there to play.
I'll just read the plot of Kingdom Hearts BBS on Wiki.
- Ape Escape
- Patapon 2
- Pixel Junk Monsters
- Syphon Filter
- Twisted Metal
- Midway Arcade Treasures
- Manhunt 2
That's $70! How the fuck can I save money?!
anyways i'll pick up a couple for sure,
