PSP camera is not coming to the US

PSP camera is not coming to the US photo
     PSP

According the guys at Siliconera, the PSP Chotto Shot/Go!Cam is not going to hit stateside. The reason was gleaned from a PR person when he said that cell phone cameras are too powerful to even bother releasing the device. The Chotto Shot camera only has 1.3 MegaPixels, while most mobile cameras have around 2.

I wouldn’t say that this is a complete loss, considering that we’re still getting the GPS device. It just sucks that you can’t show your buddy where you are, then take a picture for reference. Even if the Chotto Shot made it over, the top of your PSP could get rather busy. Imagine having this hulking thing on top of your PSP and trying to put it in your pocket. The possibility of broken electronics is endless.

God, why do people keep attaching cameras to our portable gaming systems? Remember the Gameboy camera? I couldn't care less about this being gone.

Now.. if it was more portable, better looking, and had a bigger megapixel count.. then I might be curious.

I actually wanted this, and it took them this long to say anything D:

Guess i'll have to import after all.

Build it into the next revision or PSP2 and all will be well. Even if it's the same resolution, if it's built-in, people will use it and so will the game programmers.
