PSOne games up for download in PlayStation Store photo

Almost as if in response to Nintendo's new Virtual Console releases earlier today, Sony now has five PSOne games available for download in their online PlayStation Store.  Here are the games and their respective sizes and prices:

Cool Boarders - 283MB - $5.99
Crash Bandicoot - 469MB - $5.99
Hot Shots Golf 2 - 157MB - $5.99
Syphon Filter
- 385MB - $5.99
Tekken 2 - 535MB - $5.99

Tekken 2 and Syphon Filter will, no doubt, be the centers of attraction on that list. $5.99 for each of those isn't bad at all. Crash Bandicoot is awesome, too, though I don't know if anyone really cares about the other two titles. Get 'em while they're hot!

I think Sony has actually done something right here, finally. The pricing seems pretty fair, especially considering Nintendo is asking EIGHT DOLLARS FOR F---ING COLUMNS. All of those games above can be considered, by all rights (and in even in this generation), to be full fledged games that you will play for more than ten minutes.

I'm spending Wii points Nintendo GAVE me on games and it hurts me inside. If I still had a PS3, I'd probably buy a few and not feel that I had been raped.

Wait, you can't get these things if you don't have a PS3, can you?

God damn it.

I always thought that old snes and genesis games looked a hell of a lot better and held up better than old ps1 games. When I play some of those old ps1 games, especially sports, I can't believe that I thought they looked so good.

It's nice to see people agreeding that VC games are pure rip-off. With the Wii many fanboys have emerged and they refuse to accept that Oh, and it's nice to see Sony doind something right at least. I mean, it's CHEAPER than an SNES, Turbo grafix 16 and Genesis game!! SWEET!! :P

The PS1 game downloads and PS2 ( eventually, you know it will happen ) could well be a deciding in a console war that despite the media, Sony have the upper hand in, because behind the price, you are buying the most technologically advanced system, and when PC's take over drastically in power again, PS3 is the only one that might be able to hold its own , as 360 is no longer really next gen. Its been out too long and was released to early to be true next gen, it can handle DX10, but its not really a DX10 console. The PS3 dev's are making their own DX10 equalling, or more even more powerful engines, as dev's only have to develop a engine with one game in mind. and all Microsoft games will have to developed with a PC port in mind . Microsoft have to consider that position.

Consider Microsofts incredibly weak back catalogue. Halo ? Ninja Gaiden. 1 is run of the mill, the other has gone PS3 exclusive, it doesnt really have a killer app. Sure GoW is amasing, but give me RE4 anyday, its cheaper , and better.

Sony has done great with this but, the only way Sony could really knock this whole download retro games thing out of the park is by getting Sega Saturn games.

If they get Nights into Dreams, Fighting Vipers, Panzer Dragoon all for download for a fair price, then it's over Sony Wins.
