I'd argue that Explodemon! is a terribly silly-sounding name for a game. But God damned if it doesn't look slick, setting off just about every retro alarm in the Destructoid offices (this also involves sprinklers and string cheese).
In development by Curve Studios for PC, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare, the game looks like a fresh take on classic platforming titles, with a look and feel clearly inspired by Capcom's Mega Man. As the studio itself name-checks the Blue Bomber, Mario, Halo, and Half-Life 2 in describing the game... and that should really say it all.
You can check out the video after the jump, which shows off Explodemon!'s platforming and exploding game mechanic that defies description... mostly because I'm not sure what the hell is going on. But I don't care, because it looks really, really damned cool.
It's an April Fools joke! I mean c'mon it's being released for the PC, PS3, and Wii? No way, I don't believe that for a second that a small game like this could be on all 3 right away.
Farting explosions, yeah it's pretty interesting but the killer is the multi-platform issue. 360 and PS3 release, yeah I'd believe that. But PC, PS3 and the Wii?! No way, but a good try for April Fools!
Looks so kickass, but i doubt it is anything, i mean, i think the visuals look to requiring for the wiiware size limit for the game to have any substance, the colour scheme is exactly like Ironman, so i am not sure this would role well. Looks Explosive fun.
I think I'm more entertained by the fact that only the main character has horrible Engrish lines while the alien bug-monster seems to be fine. Please be real.
Apparently it's supposed to be a parody game, and the bad dialogue is intentional. I still think it could be an April Fools joke though.
For one thing, it doesn't make sense for it to be released on everything except XBLA, because when has that ever happened? And also, it still says XBLA in the video even though the game is supposedly not on XBLA, which is inconsistent.
So hopefully this game is real, but if not, at least we'll have Egyptian Dental Fair to play.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
but yeah all i could picture was mega man doing all this stuff. kinda to close if you ask me.

The Bionic Commando boss dialogue. The sleek colorful HD graphics. The awesome music/very Mega Man X-ey opening.
This would be the cruelest April fools I've seen all day! Explodemon sounds weird, but Explo-Demon sounds amazing.
Also, teleportation is the new Cover System.
Also
Revolving afterlife doors indeed.
@Forest Green Lantern
I thought it was another pokemon rip-off actually.
