This is kinda ridiculous, really. People will spend great deals of time doing tasks they don't even enjoy for the sake of a virtual representation of their achievements.
I have nothing against people who like trophies/achievements, though. I myself am guilty of going a bit out of my way to earn something. Just don't succumb to your OCD.

I used to have a terrible problem with achievements. I found I wasn't really enjoying gaming anymore though. Just play the game. I mean some achievements are genuinely fun and add replay value but when you find yourself playing shit games for the achievements you may have a problem.
I admittedly am more of an achievement whore than I like to admit, but it is kind of sad when people use achievements to justify purchases.

Finish game, move on to next game. Once all games are done, go back to Trophies. Looking at my backlog I don't think that will ever happen.
I don't know if these guys did it by themselves, but I know a few trophy hunters who share the same account to increase the trophy count. One guy could be trying to plat KZ3 per se, and once that guy is done, another guy does a platinum hunt for another game, like Batman: Arkham Asylum, but all the trophies earned goes to one account only. It's like gamesharing, but with trophies.
I'm on the high end of 15, probably will break 16 by the end of this year. I will go out of the way to platinum a game, but only if it is fun to do.

Damn. I got a few plats, but only in games I spend a lot of time playing anyway. I'm no where near level 50 though.
I think my brother is like level 16 with 3 games platinumed (Resident Evil 5, Uncharted 2 & Assassin's Creed II) and it took a shit ton of games to get there.

I think I'm at around Lv15, with 13 platinum trophies.
I gave up on trophy whoring after attempting to platinum SAW, though. Couldn't make it 1/3 of the way through the game.

I've gotten all the achievements in a bunch of 360 games but I've yet to get a platinum in a PS3 game. Someday....
On level 15. Have 10 plats, including both Uncharteds, both Infamouses's's's, Fallout 3, & some other bits & bobs. I will chase platinums, but only like djratchet said....if it's fun.

I didn't even know they worked like that. Sounds complicated. I don't have a PS3 so all I know are achievements and those are simple.
I have all the achievements in 12 or so 360 games, but no platnium trophies. I think I'm only like level 3.
I'm level 14 with 16 platinums. I try to platinum every game I own, but it usually doesn't work out because of online trophies. I only do those for games I really enjoy playing.

Some are fun, like a couple in the Half-Life games, but most of them are something like "Get a thousand kills in competitive ranked multiplayer using only melee attacks while playing with your feet and eating dinner in the middle of a 24-hour straight play session."
All Trophies and Achievements do are give developers a reason to lock down save files so no one "cheats" to get these nonexistent things. Something tells me I'm in the minority in my way of thinking, though.

That is way too much, the highest level on my friend list is 15. I like earning trophies, but when you get to the point where you reach the level cap then you're trying too hard. Are these guys even having fun anymore?

Level 13, 0 platinums. Just not my thing. But I play enough games (thank you gamefly) to just rake in shit loads of bronzes. Works well enough.

IMO: There are much better ways to waste time on PS3. For example most Porn video sites work in the PS3's Web Browser..

Meh. I stopped caring about achievements/trophies/etc a while ago, so this doesn't really concern me.

Oh well that's nice. Let's see I just rolled into level 13....that's about two and a half levels a year.....I should reach level 50 in about 20 years. 25 taking into account it seems to be more difficult to level up as your level gets higher.

I'm a level 14 as of yesterday. I've only platinum'd Fallout 3, Borderlands and Burnout Paradise. I have never and will never play a shit game for trophies. That's why hunted: the demon's forge and Alpha Protocol sit at 0%. Most games require you to play through the game more than once, and yet fallout is the only one ive followed through with. Why? Cause its fun. I've got trophies, but only for the games I enjoy.
Real world called. Nobody cares how many trophies you have. Nobody cares about your gamerscore. Nobody cares which Steam achievements you've got.

Level 13, 14 Platinums and a few more 100%s (That's game's that don't have Platinums.) Some trophies were not fun but knowing I beat some of the hardest things makes me feel very good.
Trophies are a good way to judge how much of a real gamer someone is. I can look at what games people have played and which ones they have invested time into.

Yeah, I didn't know there was a cap. Seems kind of silly. Like, if there were a cap of 100,000 Gamerscore, most people wouldn't be affected by it, but it'd still be stupid.
I'm level 5. Don't really care about my trophy level, I don't attempt extremely insane ones or ones that take too much effort.
I'm level 18 without much effort. I'm a middle aged guy with a job and a couple of young kids, so my play time is limited. I would think that anyone with Gamefly for a period of time would naturally progress through the ranks steadily. A lot of the the games I play with my kids have silly easy trophies, too.

How is that embarrassing? Not everybody plays games to get some arbitrary number next to their name. I would quite possibly delete any of my friends who had 1,000 points in Avatar because THAT is embarrassing.
Mine is pretty low, level 10 or 11 atm, I believe. I only have one platinum, and will likely never have more than a handful of them as I don't have time to play all the games I have let alone spend a lot of time on the inane, fun-sapping tasks that developers come up with to get them.
I tend to be happy if I finish the game and enjoyed it.
