PSN Store confirmed for UK release April 15th photo

We knew it would be launching in April, but now Sony has come forth with some official confirmation that the newly revamped PSN store is launching April 15th in the UK. Here is some of the word direct from the horse's mouth, so to speak:

"On 15th April, the new look PlayStation Store, the online content store on PlayStation Network launches; bringing with it improved navigation, more functionality and a whole raft of new content ... the revamp comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PlayStation Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation ... the new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface."

Right on! So cleaner lines, easier navigation, flying donuts, etc. Sounds swell. Your current PSN account follows you to the new store, so there won't be any changes to make. What else? (You mean, there's more?) How about new content starting April 17th? In detail:

"To accompany the launch, the PlayStation Store will see an exciting selection of content available from 17th April, consisting of the launch of the Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta, building up to the launch of the next chapter in one of PlayStation's most loved franchises, Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots ... Also available will be Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror, a great new addition to the hugely popular Warhawk experience and Lair: Diabolical Dragons Pack and Skyguard Upgrade pack, offering new and exciting features and functions. There will also be a collection of trailers including the latest for GTA IV, as well as a Sega Superstars tennis demo."

Will the US get all this too? Well, yes, but whether or not we will get it same day is not specified. Regardless this is a pretty solid preview of what to expect, so even if it's not same day, it certainly won't be long now. Hey Sony, some of us old schoolers would like some PS one games via PSN too...don't forget about us.

Good stuff. Does anybody know if the store is going to be region specific again or not?

Good stuff. They’ve had the latest GTA IV trailer since the day it came out (and as far as I’m aware, that’s the last one Rockstar will be putting out). But otherwise, I’m expecting big things for the future of the PS3 and the PSN.

And yeah, Colette...if Sony put the other two PS1 Spyro games on the PSN, I’d buy them in an instant.

I'm sure the US will get it right before the UK does, since the UK always gets stuff delayed.
