PSN show The Tester gets a date, trailer, and Hal Sparks photo

The PlayStation Network-exclusive reality show The Tester is either going to be the greatest thing ever or the worst -- there's no middle ground here. To quickly catch you up to speed, 11 contestants are asked to perform in seemingly irrelevant physical and mental challenges to win the job title "videogame tester."

A bunch of new info surrounding the show has been unveiled today, including: it's premiering on February 18, will be absolutely free to watch, and Hal Sparks has signed on as a panelist. Also, there's an insane trailer for The Tester that you must watch.

This thing ... I don't even know where to begin. A dude gets axed in the neck, people are rolling around in those giant hamster ball contraptions, and then everyone starts spooning. Hell, I think I even saw some dance moves straight out of Space Channel 5.

The Tester is the greatest thing ever, I have just decided.

Feb 18 is my birthday. So people will compete for one of the most stressful and easiest to acquire job in the gaming industry?

Can someone explain to me how the PRODUCER OF PLAYSTATION HOME has any right to criticize someone for something game related?? "You sucked sir, frankly, you sucked almost as much as that thing I made sucks."

Watched the Trailer. Painful. Your header image, however, is great.

@KalosBlue

Gonna use that excuse for this too? I wonder how much mediocre or terrible content you'd be willing to waste your time on becaue it's free. Do you value your time so poorly?

Why, for the love of all that is good in this world, would ANYONE, ever, EVER, want to become a game tester?

in this day and age, we the people are a spoiled bunch. We get angry at things that others take advantage for in other parts of the world. Why is ND charging $5 for costumes?!? Online costumes?!? Because we are spoiled and people will buy it. Anything game related that is free nowadays may not be the best but it's worth a double take. Sure it because maybe it's too crappy to charge for, but behind every second is sweat/blood from somebody, and that's worth my time

^^^^This.

I think this is a ploy from PSN, so they can get the crappy office jobs occupied by those batshit-crazy enough to compete for them in a reality show, therefore they are more likely to stick around.

This autumn, PSN asks you: "Who Wants to be The Guy That Goes And Gets The Coffee?"

I think this looks very entertaining, I mean sure it's not an emmy winner, but it's free to watch and its better than about 80% of the other shows you could be watching that night. I hate how they re-use people in reality shows over n over though. That one chick with the short hair was already on Ultimate Gamer on sci0fi.

As someone who has worked as a video game tester I can safely say that such a job is not one that anyone would want or need to scompete for without being extremely delluded. The pay is bad, the work can get extremely monotonous, and youll work on many bad games before you get to work on one you kinda like but the fun gets worn out after playing it over and over for 4 months straight

Such a stupid yet genius idea Im in awe
