It seems that the PlayStation Network is having some issues. Over the past two hours or so, people have been having problems getting online over PSN and are getting errors when they try to play games. One tipster received an error code of 8001050F, and a quick Google search shows that a lot of people are having the same problem.
Don't worry, though: Sony is on the job. They just tweeted, "We're aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we're looking into it. Stay tuned for updates." We're sure they're figuring it out now.
Having booted up my PS3 and checked it out, I don't seem to be having any issues, but mine is fresh out of the box. It seems that a lot of the people having problems have older versions of the PS3 before the Slim landed. We'll keep this post updated to let you know what is up.
[Update: Judging from the comments, it appears to only be older (non-Slim) PS3s that are having the issue. Worse still, it is keeping many from playing certain games that evidently require an Internet connection -- even to play the single-player. That's some messed-up sh*t.]
[Update 2: From scattered reports and our own experience it has become evident that the PS3's suffering from the issue have had their internal clocks reset along with plenty of Trophies becoming corrupted. Also, this doesn't look good either: http://us.playstation.com/PS3/dearplaystation/. Still no word from Sony officially.
Further updates after the jump.]
[Thanks, Zachery and Mike S.]
[Update 3: Sony updated their Twitter. According to their readers/followers, 120 and 250 GB "Slim" models are working and only "fats" are glitching; they are narrowing down the source of the issue.]
It's because Deadly Premonition is better than Heavy Rain no doubt.
It could happen.
DRM perhaps?
This is really f~ed up.
... they've also been updated the entire Playstation website... it's running like a pig and a mess, so it's hard to even find the PSN status information anywhere on the site.
Hopefully they get everything sorted out... soon!! (in the interim I'll just play an offline game).
Xboxes cannot get on PSN (and after April 14th won't be able to access Xbox live either!), what are you doing saying that you silly new user? Oh, wait, you're not a new user you're just too inept to upload an avatar. Oh ok.
Hiccoughs happen people calm down.
but now im worried beuacse this will give fuel to the anti sony fire because it seems latley peopel hate on sony and sony fans (i blame people who can't keep there mouth shut if heavy rain gets a bad score but i will simpathize beaucse it is frustrating when the world is skwed towards xbox)
but now jim sterling will come in and tell me why i am a dumbass for owning a ps3 and make me feel like a jackass for being a sony fan like always
i hate him lol
No luck login into Europe or States Account.
@Elsa
Enter 'Error Code' here to see what it means. Quite handy to keep in your bookmarks.
You should be able to play games which don't need online access that way. People without internet access (at all, not only right now, never) can still get trophies, just don't sync online.
This has happened before. Some servers are still running others are fucked. That's why some people can still connect and others don't. In true internet fashion people are making weird assumptions. "Hey I've got a Fat PS3 and I can't connect." "Yeah I've got a Fatty too so it must be affection only old PS3!".
@Paraparaking
You probably have selected the option to set time via internet. But with the servers down it can't check it so it has been reset.
Oh well I'm not playing anything tonight anyhow.
time is being reset for people who havnt attempted to connect to update time.
I was thinking about it and I thought maybe it checks it always when your system is online. Or something. I don't know. It's weird.
This is messed up.
Yes, I also have the original launch PS3. Thanks for screwing us Sony.
