PSN: .detuned to drop today for $2.99, also WTF photo

Remember when we told you a bit about .detuned? Yeah, that game with the crazy-ass screenshots. Well, that game...thing is coming out today.

The PlayStation Network will see .detuned drop today for $2.99. This was created by German-based demoscene regulars .theprodukkt, and is more a crazy music-based visualizer than a full-on game. You kind of create your own performances using your own music (or the included tunes) and the PS3 controller, interacting with the objects on the screen.

Experimental is probably the best word for .detuned. It's not a game, but it still sounds pretty interesting. We'll check it out today and let you know if it's worth a go.

I'll probably get it because it's so cheap. But the $4.99 Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars is what really has my interest.

@shadowjin It's interactive art. Like Linger in Shadows was.

Fu... ignore my comment... finally read up on it. "It isn’t exactly a game or an art piece like Linger in Shadows. It is a user-driven music visualizer that allows you to create your own visual performance to accompany your favorite music tracks on the XMB, simply by using the SIXAXIS controller to manipulate and interact with objects within a scene. It also has its own music and a performance you can watch, too!"

For three bucks I'm in. I really like to see people trying different things with interactive media.

When they previewed this on Pulse (the free PSN show) I actually got a little angry. It's one of those weird for the sake of weird things.

@arresteddeveloper,

"It's one of those weird for the sake of weird things."

That angers you?

And what's wrong with weird? Weird just means extraordinary. (it can also mean witchcraft, but I doubt you mean that). Do you seriously want to live in a society that never strives for extraordinary?

Or are you a bland manila folder stuck to a beige wall with masking tape? Kinda sounds like it.

Anyway, this looks pretty interesting. And for $3, you can't go too wrong.
