It's entirely possible you've already received this update -- Assassin's Creed 2 and/or Left 4 Dead 2 midnight launches and all -- but the Xbox LIVE Update is now... well, live.
The update brings a slew of new features including Facebook, the new Zune video marketplace, Twitter, and Last.fm. All you need to do in order to receive the update is turn on your Xbox 360 and all of this new stuff will be there. Pretty easy, right?
I've been using the new features for awhile, and I must admit I haven't touched the Twitter or Facebook apps since testing them out for our video preview. Last.fm, on the other hand, has been awesome with one exception -- during long listening periods, the program will detect "inactivity" and ask you if you're still listening. That's fine -- why would they waste bandwidth on someone who's not listening? The problem -- it does it in the middle of a song. Really, guys?
After you update, let us know how you like the new features, and which ones (if any) you'll be using the most.
I'll be using the LastFM now and then as my front room has no decent music listening options so that's handy. Although if it could run in the background I'd use it a lot more. The rest of it? nah.
I've heard rumours that last.fm will not be available in Canada. Can anyone corroberate this story? I guess I could go down stairs and turn on my xbox, but this seems easier. Yes.
I used to love last.fm when I used winamp back in the day, but now I have a zune so there is no need for it seeing how the software does basically the same thing, keep track of songs you play, and suggest new bands.
I'm a Xbox Live Gold Subscriber and a Last.fm Subscriber but I can't listen to Last.fm on Xbox because of region restrictions. What's the point? Sux! If the service is available for the whole world on the internet, why won't they do the same on xbox live?
I really don't understand why people are so against this update, you aren't paying for it, you're just paying for Live like you have forever. The update is free, use it or don't. I'll mess around with it for sure, but I don't see myself getting any extended use out of any of them. Guess I'll finally have to make a FB page like the rest of the world too.

Also, why the attempt at humor Nick? I find it really nonprofessional and unfunny in the "not-funny" way. Not the unfunny Something Awful way. The whole "I ran out of gold" routine seemed forced.
Why the hell would you want the updates from Xbox to my facebook automatically? My friends would be pissed as hell if every time I got an achievement my status updated. Have you ever socially interacted with anybody Carlton (minus your fanboy trolling)? Do you know how the real world works? People don't like to be harassed.
That is seriously a legitimate question, because from all your trolling I am having difficulty believing you know how to be even a decent member of society.
I personally hate seeing that stupid Mafia Wars and Farmville spam on my feed and I'm pretty sure my friends don't care for it, so even if such an option were available, it would be off. I keep that shit on GamerDNA.

The many people who use and communicate with one another in various would disagree with your assessment of the service.

As far as Last.FM, I'm yet to get the update, but since I am in Australia, where we regularly get shafted my MS and the RIAA (even though we have our own pack of devils in the ARIA), it's highly unlikely we'll see last.FM. I mean they shut down Pandora for us FFS
