registering it right now.
Goddamnit Nintendo... you're making it easier for me to abandon you everyday. I feel like an idiot. 21 years of this and for what? No preorder bonus (yeah, I didn't get a poster, and that's lame in and of itself because I already have THREE of those), and a faulty website that froze me out of something I'd gladly pay for but you never sell? I mean geez, Nintendo, you packaged a soundtrack CD with every copy of Mario All-Stars last year; what the fuck stopped you from doing that for this?
I'd pay MONEY for a Zelda soundtrack since Nintendo never releases them, and I can't even get a free one? Take some fucking notes from Atlus, Nintendo. THEY know how to run promotional stuff like nobody else in the industry. I don't know how much of your bullshit I'm willing to take anymore.
I didn't end up getting the pop-up either and when I went to call there was a nice message saying that due to their call volume they couldn't even keep me on hold for hours if I wanted too.. AND I WOULD HAVE.. instead, telling people to call back later "when the volume should be down", as if they know that'll even happen on a good day.
I had to e-mail them about it, and pretty much told them -after I requested to go through the process of trying to get in on getting the CD at all- that for so many of us to have to call or to have a problem to need to call/email just because, for one reason or another, we didn't get a pop-up is unacceptable. Pretty much made it a point to say that as a life long Nintendo fan (Since the NES right after it came out, when I got it for my birthday at age 4) that I've been through the highs and lows with this company but this just takes the cake.
So I guess we'll see if they'll even acknowledge my email, let alone get it in time to be included on the offer. It wasn't nearly as dripping with venom as it could have been, mostly because I knew it really wasn't going to get me any where.
And I know there's going to be someone who says "it was a free thing, all you need to calm down." Yeah, its free, and its nice to even have the option, but this really does go to show you how clueless Nintendo about the internet, not to mention that the limited nature of the promotion wasn't exactly made clear (or known) when it was announced to the world at E3. We were told all we needed to do was register our game and it'd be shipped, which we all could ASSUME would act exactly like getting a Nintendo Club Elite reward, NOT that you'd have hope dearly for a pop-up to show up on your screen. Nintendo had to have known the storm they were brewing when they decided to do this and you'd think they should have been better prepared.
This actually this smells almost exactly like the problem Nick had with buying Nintendo point cards just to be told by is 3DS that he couldn't use the $40 he just spent (to which I say sorry for the "Not to be rude but didn't you guys cover this months ago" comment made in that post) just because people weren't properly informed of how Nintendo intended to run things, with Nintendo leading them to make a decision based purely on that misinformation.
Honestly, we were promised something for our faith and continued support in the series and those of us who went out of our way to get the game today rather then wait months for when we really had the funds to do so (like myself), pretty much got a swift kick in the jewels for our troubles -I don't know anyone who wouldn't be pissed at that, free item or not.
(Yeah, I know, long comment, I'm really sorry)
Due to strong demand and technical issues, we are extending this offer. Members who register the game by midnight, Pacific Time on Monday June 20, 2011 will receive the soundtrack CD.
Does this mean even though I didn't get the confirmation page, I still get the soundtrack due to the fact that i registered it and did the survey?
Yeah you do, but I would recommend that you give them a call so you make sure you get the order inquiry
You may want to consider holding on to it.
