PSA: PSP firmware 6.20 now available for download photo

A new PSP firmware update is available for download. Get happy, people!

The latest update (v6.20) doesn’t snap neck ligaments with head-turning blockbuster additions, but it does add a hook for a solid new feature: the Digital Comics Reader. Accessed through the Extras panel in the XMB after a short download (of which v6.20 is required), you'll soon be able to download and view digital comic books from the PS Store at your leisure. Toilet PSP time is going to get a billion times better, we reckon.

If comics aren't your thing, perhaps this is: the latest firmware also allows you to export video and photo playlists to your PC. (This can only happen after downloading another update to Media Go, though.) Obviously, this isn't something you can use on the toilet, unlike the Comics Reader. Unless, of course, you have a PC by said toilet. If so, that means there's a chance you could be reading this post in widescreen on a toilet. I feel uneasy all of a sudden.

But can I read the comics I already have on my PC? I still need a solid portable comic reader for my Johnny the Homicidal Maniac reading pleasure.

You can download the Reader now, but it says Dec 2009 is when it will be released.

I'd like to pick up some manga from this..we'll see I guess.

hopefully the addition of more features means DA can come out of early retirement and fix the issues with GEN CFW- GEN has been doing a decent job of picking up the torch but I do miss my DA and M-33 releases

You know that the mobile version of Dtoid is called "Toilet Edition" and that sometimes I even use it as such, with the Nokia E90 from my job?

Please God, add a manga section. Asian women are tired of mange being used as a cop-out for nerdy white boys stalking them in Barnes and Noble. The nerds can stay at home and the poor girls will no longer be stalked.

My only loss will be snickering at both parties from the Graphic Novel section.

Also, have they shown anything other than Marvel for this? I poked around in the app and its got some nice features, like MP3 playback, but if its just Marvel, that's kinda depressing. I'm more of a DC guy.

I'll stick with custom firmware. Sony better not screw me over after just buying a PSP 3000 with CFW on eBay with this firmware craze.

So...I can already do all of this with CFW, and be able to use comics I already have on my computer. Sony...still not really giving me a reason to switch back to OFW.
