PSA: God of War III demo available with pre-order voucher photo

Heads up: If you pre-ordered the God of War III or God of War III Ultimate Collection for PlayStation 3, you should be able to download the God of War III E3 demo right now. 

Of course, that's only if you've received a voucher code, which retailers should have today. I checked in with a few local GameStops, some of which hadn't received their codes yet, yet many had. Your mileage may vary, so let us know how it goes. 

The demo weighs in at a little over two gigs and lets pull out a creature's intestines with your bare hands. We'll have some video footage later today, so stay tuned.

[Update: The original story had indicated this was a pre-order with God of War Collection. Clarification from Sony and multiple retailers now indicates codes are available with the pre-order of God of War III and the God of War III Ultimate Collection. The God of War Collection will come with its own code to download the demo... now you can get it twice!

The story has been updated to reflect the clarification, but the point remains -- you can be playing the God of War III demo today if you'd like.]

I always thought the purpose of a demo was to get people to buy your game, not reward people who bought it sight unseen.

My GameStop is telling me that as far as they know and from what their computer tells them, the voucher comes packaged with the actual game when you pick it up.

But the screen above makes me think my GameStop are either lying or dumb.

Actually, all 4 of my local GameStops have now told me the vouchers are not supposed to be given out until you pick up the game.

Even the GS website says the voucher comes with the game.

This sucks.

"Well, fans will also have the option to pre-order their copy of God of WarŽ III today. Those who pre-order a copy of God of War III and/or God of War III Ultimate Edition will have their Kratos reunion earlier than expected and will receive a PlayStationŽNetwork voucher code for the E3 2009 demo, playable TODAY!"

You might want to have a talk with your local GameStops...

So, gamestop is telling you that a voucher for a DEMO of the game, comes packed WITH the game? why? so you can give your friends a demo voucher? I don't know about you but I'd just start playing my game rather then downloading a demo =_=

I'm saying that GS is saying that the voucher for the GoW3 demo isn't supposed to be handed out until you pick up the actual physical copy of God of War Collection.

I got an e-mail from Sony earlier today containing a voucher code for the God of War III Beta. But I never preordered. It seems that they are not randomly giving these away but handing them to 'valued Playstation Network Users'.

I agree. The whole point of a "DEMO" is to see if you like a game enough to buy a copy. Not get to play the demo, BECAUSE you already bought that game on pre-order. That's just stupid. Fine, whatever Sony -- I'm not playing THIS game, keep your damn demo and f*k U.
