PSA: Dragon Age 'Return to Ostagar' DLC live for 360, PC photo

Hail, Grey Warden(s). As Muzyka suggested in a recent interview, Dragon Age: Origins's "Return to Ostagar" DLC is now available. Again. For real. It went live on Xbox LIVE Marketplace yesterday afternoon and can be downloaded for the PC via the official Dragon Age Web site. The PS3 version, however, is still MIA and being listed as "coming soon." We'll go ahead and guess that it'll actually come soon as opposed to "get released and then pulled." We'll update this post when the PS3 version of "Ostagar" goes live ... or if anything funny happens. Again.

@Mechman
Don't be relieved: it's terrible, don't download it.

Just look up the loot and decide if you want to pay 400 points for gear.

I downloaded this the first time around and never had any of the bug issues that were mentioned about it. I did enjoy this bit of DLC and the loots I received.

I swear Magnalon has sand in his vaggy all the fucking time. Christ.

It's good. Short but nice flashbacks, interesting story parts. I don't even care about the loot, I just wanted to go in and get a bit of closure. Not bad for 5 bucks.

42 Minutes, that's all it took.

You get: Duncan's Sword/Dagger and the dead King's gear. I was expecting at least a good boss fight... nope...

Also, you can hide in the Kunnels where the wardogs use to be and kill anything ranged as they cannot run in (It at least worked for me for my first and only playtrhough)

Pros: The King's Armor, Duncan's Weapons
Cons: You've feel like you killed everything before, Short

This doesn't seem like a smart move to release it when ME2 is the big thing right now. I would have waited a week or two and let it settle down.

Check every review ever of the DLC that's up. They all unanimously agree it sucks.

After wasting $10 on the previous DA:O DLC (I know it was $6.99, but I can't find anything worth buying for $3.01 on PSN) I'm leery about any new DLC content.

If I find myself in a situation where two more "bonus dollars" join the money already in my PSN wallet, I may buy this. If not, I doubt I'll be missing much.

*Reads comments* Yeah, I'll be skipping this totally.

The DLC is fine. It's only $5, it lasts like an hour and a half, it gives you a bit of closure on the Ostagar story with some nice loot (I had wanted Duncan's weapons and Cailan's armor before I knew this existed, so it was a good bonus). Gives you some more character development and lets you see what became of the place where you popped your battle cherry. Get it if you'd like another little side adventure, ignore it if you don't. No need to go trashing it like it gave you the clap. Worry about something important for a change.

It's definitely overpriced for the 40 minutes gameplay.. As for the money value, still Fallout 3 has the best DLCs.

@Jayge
People worry because not everyone has $5 to blow on 30-40 minutes of mediocre content, and there's hardly any coverage of the quality of the DLC on the entire internet.

@ Magnalon,

I did check around. It's not "unanimously bad" (obviously...). It's meant to be a short piece of DLC to give a little more peek at Ostagar and it does just that. Mission accomplished. Apparently you were expecting an expansion pack for $5, or something?
Chris Carter's Avatar - Comment posted on 01/30/2010 23:46

@Run
The reviews basically say "you're paying $5 for loot". Given the brevity of the game in general, there's absolutely no point in paying an extra $5 unless you really want the goods. After completing the mission, I felt dirty, and just wanted to restart a new game to re-experience Ostagar for free.

Sorry, forgot to add this. What I said above is check the reviews available online: the highest score I can find is a 6, and that's 6 reviews.

I liked it really pulled at my heart strings but I can see how people might feel it's not worth 5 bucks,epically given how much they got for 60 in the main game,the loot is pretty awesome though and I'm not talking about the armor verdict not bad in and of itself but value conscious consumer beware hour, hour and half max

I'm still trying to figure out when 5 bucks for an hour or so of content is a bad thing. If they were trying to charge 10 bucks for it, yeah. I'd be pissed. But they never even attempted that. I guess, If you're so opposed to it, when the next one comes around just don't buy it.

Honestly, I'm sorry if you feel like you've wasted 5 friggin dollars, but seeing as how that's barely enough to buy a meal, not enough to get 2 gallons of gas and just over 50% of a non-matienee movie ticket, I'm going to go ahead and put this down as not an issue and say better luck next time.
