Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Don't be relieved: it's terrible, don't download it.
Just look up the loot and decide if you want to pay 400 points for gear.
It's good. Short but nice flashbacks, interesting story parts. I don't even care about the loot, I just wanted to go in and get a bit of closure. Not bad for 5 bucks.
You get: Duncan's Sword/Dagger and the dead King's gear. I was expecting at least a good boss fight... nope...
Also, you can hide in the Kunnels where the wardogs use to be and kill anything ranged as they cannot run in (It at least worked for me for my first and only playtrhough)
Pros: The King's Armor, Duncan's Weapons
Cons: You've feel like you killed everything before, Short
Check every review ever of the DLC that's up. They all unanimously agree it sucks.
If I find myself in a situation where two more "bonus dollars" join the money already in my PSN wallet, I may buy this. If not, I doubt I'll be missing much.
*Reads comments* Yeah, I'll be skipping this totally.
People worry because not everyone has $5 to blow on 30-40 minutes of mediocre content, and there's hardly any coverage of the quality of the DLC on the entire internet.
I did check around. It's not "unanimously bad" (obviously...). It's meant to be a short piece of DLC to give a little more peek at Ostagar and it does just that. Mission accomplished. Apparently you were expecting an expansion pack for $5, or something?
The reviews basically say "you're paying $5 for loot". Given the brevity of the game in general, there's absolutely no point in paying an extra $5 unless you really want the goods. After completing the mission, I felt dirty, and just wanted to restart a new game to re-experience Ostagar for free.
Sorry, forgot to add this. What I said above is check the reviews available online: the highest score I can find is a 6, and that's 6 reviews.
Honestly, I'm sorry if you feel like you've wasted 5 friggin dollars, but seeing as how that's barely enough to buy a meal, not enough to get 2 gallons of gas and just over 50% of a non-matienee movie ticket, I'm going to go ahead and put this down as not an issue and say better luck next time.
With 5 bucks you can buy Freedom Force on steam.
