Rare is the occasion where I feel I have to "spoil" my review before it goes live, but I feel it's my civic duty to warn you not to buy AMY on Xbox Live today. Despite very promising trailers and details, it turns out that AMY is already a shoe-in for the worst game of the year.
I could talk about the fact that AMY's sparsely spread checkpoints do not save your game progress (it only saves by chapter and there are five chapters), I could talk about the controls that make characters stick to walls and random bits of floor, I could talk about stealth gameplay that appears to be inspired by Vampire f*cking Rain ... but I don't want to just write the entire review here.
Basically, imagine everything you hated about survival horror, minus anything you might have loved. That's AMY. It would crush my soul to think of anybody purchasing this, because it is, as far as I'm concerned, outright theft to charge $10 for this.
A review will come once I find a way to fight through this horrific joke of a game. In the meantime, you can download the trial and see it for yourself. The one good thing I can say about AMY is that even the introductory cutscene is a stuttering load of poorly animated shit, so at least it's not trying to completely fool you.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
DJ's name is Jim Sterling, obviously.
Looked shit anyway.
Then again, it was for the greater justice.
I am sad thought as I was hoping this would be a decent horror game.
Anyway...thanks Jim!
Oh cmon, you know you'll prolly buy it anyway!
As always, your candour is appreciated, sir.
I lolled. Haha, thanks Jim.
Man, I had such a crush on her when I was 7. PTERODACTYL!
Also u apear to be a babbling fool. So nm I guess
There's a reason its only $10..
C'mon, who really thought there would be a quality 3d download only survival horror game, especially one that's budget priced out the gate?
In other news I'd like to ask if you've gotten to play the FFXIII-2 Demo (you've probably managed to play more, but I guess we'd stick to the demo for prosperity)? Wasted a good hour plus of my life on that last night. Hated it, turned me off to giving the game an objective shot like I was going to allow it. To put my impression in the most basic terms: Its FFXIII (The fighting system -whether you loved it or hated it- with a small twists that gets annoying fairly quickly), with towns, with a load of NPC's randomly talking at you (that you have no real indication of who you SHOULD be talking to). Only saving grace -in the demo at least- was that no characters were so annoying that I wanted to shove them into Ifrits furnace. Demo had SPARCE tutorials too, so if you hadden't played FFXIII for a while and didn't remember the gist of combat, you were pretty much chowder till you remembered.
Also played Asura's Wrath.. I can't decide if I liked it. It looked nice. Sounded great (I need a voice cast list, I'm sure 100% of the voices I heard were from Dragon Ball Z). Gameplay was batshit crazy. Only problem I had (other then it being a Capcom game and my not being happy with their operations any more) was the demo -at least- made the game out to be a series of QTEs leading to sparse sections that you can control yourself. Yeah, the things in those QTEs were fun to play out, but it didn't feel like I was playing all that much more then I was watching.
Thank GOD for you.
Gracias, Jim.
So who wants to loan me $10 to buy AMY, the Vampire Rain of 2012?
LMFAO!!!!
Comment of the year.
Though the less said about her shitty music the better.
I really like old survival horror games and can't stand the current wave, so I'll be checking the trial of this just to see how close it gets. Usually when people talk about the 'bad' things of past games they're listing the parts I like. That said, I do usually trust in Mr. Sterling's opinions and reviews so I shan't be holding out much hope.
Is it too fucking much to ask for a good survival horror game nowadays?
You, I was talking about you.
It's alright not to be naive. But you really don't know someone geniunely doing a nice thing when it happens do you? He said himself to try out the trial for further clarification anyways. I bet you think everything that Jon Stewart says is a lie too don't you? (And the purpose of that question will probably go over your head too..)
