After thinking about it for a bit, I felt okay with foregoing this deal.
I have to agree with you.
When I revisit the "old days" I'm ready to move on after 30 mins.
Might still go with a 3DS but it will probably be after some good games launch and maybe after another price drop (after the 3DSi launches..... we all know its coming, tired predictable Nintendo).
I almost bit the bullet and picked one up yesterday .... but meh Nintendo does not have the best recent track record.
The Vita has Disgaea 3 in the works so its already really really tempting .... if NIS keeps releasing on portables I might never buy another console again.
Actually it's only been out for two months.
Also, I don't know how wanting to get free shit is "gullible". Oh you mean buying it at £250 when it launched? I knew what I was getting into.
I'm going to wait until after the Vita is released before I make a decision between that and the 3DS. I still have a lot of questions about the Vita and its games, and I want to see what kind of non-platformer library the 3DS can build up in that time. I've thought about it, and the ambassador thing just doesn't seem to be worth rushing that decision.
You're right. Thank you. But that just makes PSN's PSP efforts look even more sad. They have pretty much just completely given up on it in the US until the Vita comes out. Good way to win people over with trust for the Vita launch, especially after the way they handled the $200 Go people spent money on.
A lot of people automatically cast handhelds aside as being inferior to console gaming, but with the way Vita is looking, it's like having a PS3 you play in any room without being tethered to a TV all day (unless you really just NEED to play on a 42" screen to enjoy a game).
Fair point, but you don't get them in a single day. They'll be trickling out the NES content, and you don't get your GBA games until later this year.
Yeah cameras thats the ticket.
While it will probably have slightly improved megapixels over the current iterations cameras. Probably more memory both RAM and base internal storage. I also suspect the screens will have better resolution. The form factor will probably be slightly smaller (not that I really care) and last but certainly not least it will likely have superior battery life.
So yeah 3DSi (or whatever they call it since it seems like companies have been headhunting out of Squeenix for their naming needs)
Do you know every person's financial situation? I don't have the money to spend on two handhelds within the foreseeable future. It's as simple as that. I'm also counting on gift certificates from the holidays to help with the expense. This should not be a thing that bothers you.
Also, yes, I DO value buying more games over buying more hardware. If I have to chose between having one system with a lot of games, and multiple systems with just a few games, then I'm going for the games every single time. GAMES are the reason this is my hobby, not hardware collection.
Exactly. You're saying that you would rather spend the money on 50 XBox 360 games to have the same experience over and over with different numbers at the end of the title, versus spending the same amount of money to have a Dreamcast AND a 360, but only having only Shenmue, Jet Grind/Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Bastion, etc.
If you feel better about having 50 games and 1 system versus 6 games and 2 systems, more power to you. Some gamers just prefer to experience everything there is rather than limiting ourselves to the countless sequels of current gen gaming on one console.
20 free games is nothing to sneeze at and given we're talking about a handheld in the first place, isn't playing in short bursts pretty much the point anyway?
I've played through SMB3 and Metroid Fusion several times over the years, I likely will again and unlike some people, I see no purpose, merit or value to holding on to old formats that are ripe for downsizing and digital distribution.
Those old physical copies will not gain value, they won't ever be re-published or reissued again. Some digital games apparently aren't issued forever, either, but I'm inclined to believe Nintendo's games likely would be.
So that "I already own it" bit seems a bit silly. Not all of us maintain an attachment to outdated hardware, but we still might like to have its games. Just sayin'.
Whaaa ..? I can assure you, I won't be buying 50 games. I don't even know what you're talking about, really. Why do you make up all these assumptions about what other people are going to do? What is the point in that? You do not have access to my budget, so stop acting as if you do.
You're not even making sense. 50 games after I said I don't have much spare income?
I don't even
Shit, am I an ambassador?!
But then I heard that the Vita isn't coming out until 2012 in the states.
So I bought a 3DS at Walmart, bought Ocarina (which i have never played, its fucking awesome so far). Also took a look at the barren Eshop where the prices are offensive. Grudgingly payed 6 dollars for Links Awakening (never played it either) and am now waiting for my games (the NES Zelda which I surprise surprise have not played)
So I basically spent 170+40+10+20=240 for a glorified Zelda machine.
And its been worth it because as I have learned, Zelda is fucking awesome.
