It looks like keeping our fingers crossed actually worked! Straight from Mark Rein himself, Unreal Tournament III will indeed be coming out during the week of December 10th:

Midway has started talking to retailers to figure out exact timing and they will have a formal announcement early next week when everyone is back from the Thanksgiving holiday. My guess is that Midway will start shipping the title to North American retailers on Monday December 10th and it could show up in stores as early as December 11th but more likely toward the middle of that week.

Previously, it was still up in the air whether the PS3 version would be able to make it out by the end of this year. The European version of the game, however, is still expected to come out early next year.

So, PS3 owners, are you excited that the PS3 is finally getting a high profile game before the Xbox 360?

I don't think it matters if it comes out earlier as long as it comes out and is good.

With haze being delayed, this make me so happy, i cannot even put it into words. The only thing i hope is that the core engine is put on the ps3 hd, so they can continue to optimize the engine and give us updates that improve the framerates etc...

I only wish microsoft would fix their 360 red ring issues. i would buy one.

Is there a way to buy a 360, and fix it? like put better heatsyncs or fans, re solder the mainboard? if there is, i may invest. my site is becoming a review site now, and i want to review 360 titles as well.

It does look pretty sweet
tho with all this USB support that the next gen consoles have, I'm just curious whether it will be possible to use a keyboard and mouse like PC gamers.
Still it's pretty cool that it's coming out for the PS3 soon.

*Adds UT3 to the ever growing list of really cool games to get*

@Simmy: PS3 has Mouse+KB controls enabled for UT3. 360, not so much.

It's pretty good timing for them. December's kinda weak as far as new releases go. Now I just need more money and a lot more free time.

@hexfix, indeed not without voiding your warranty. If you know how to solder etc, you can do the X-Clamp replacement and it won't have RROD afaik.

@ hexfix
With the new Falcon chipset revision, the RROD should hopefully be a thing of the past. For what it's worth, my recently-bought unit runs really cool almost all over and only gets moderately warm around the vents in the back of the system. So keep it in a well-circulated area, and I doubt the new units should have any problems. If you're looking for a Falcon 360, you'll want to look for lot #0734 or higher.

The release date being prior to the 360's is irrelevant, The news that the Dev's are struggling to make mods compatible with the 360 version is much better for us PS3 owners, giving more scope and longevity to our version. However, The PS3 port will probably be shit, like usual, sadly.

That's not fear you smell; it's the foul stench of disdain for an insiped franchise. You may keep your so-called victory, as well as your quite trite MGS4.

From what I've read about it the difference from the pc version and the ps3 is there but very minimal. I could have sworn I read that someone who saw it said he couldn't really see that much difference. If I was getting this I would still opt for it on pc. Why would I hook up a mouse and keyboard to my ps3 when I already have them on my pc?

I've played both the PC and PS3 extensively, and there isn't a huge difference between the two. The PS3 version ran smooth, and will be the one I'm playing this December. I'm glad Midway was able to work this out for 2007.

I am looking to get a wii again, and a 360. i didn't want to, but i am going to do reviews for all systems. put aside all the wars and opinions on which i think is better. and get to the games which matter most..

Wonder which will be better online, UT3 or CoD4. Still playing Call of Duty online but I do have UT3 pre-ordered.

Wish they would release all these games over the year instead of releasing all of them at the end of the year. Still got Assassin's, Uncharted, Ratchet along with Mass Effect on my 360. To many!

Meh, I’ve never been a huge fan of the Unreal games anyway...regardless, I’m plenty busy with Ratchet & Clank Future, Guitar Hero III, Warhawk, Uncharted, and Rock Band (okay, so I don’t have that last one yet...but I will get it eventually, and I’m picking up Call of Duty 4 at Target today [Black Friday], assuming they have it by the time I get there).

I'm actually not looking forward to UT3 I've always hated the game series in general myself however, I am still going to get it. For the main reason of mods. This is the first game in console history to allow open full conversion mods.

The FIRST in HISTORY. Yet it goes over everyones head UT3 will be far more popular down the line after the mods start flowing. So to me it didn't matter if it came out today or 2009 as long as the PC version is out and it releases before the mods.
