Sony Online Entertainment's free-to-play PC MMO Free Realms is still coming to PlayStation 3, according to the publisher.

Speaking with Kotaku, SOE says the game is still "very much in development," and we'll see it in action for the first time at E3 this year. Free Realms launched a year ago, with some ten million subscribers to date. Not bad -- probably has something to do with how damned cute it is.

I played Free Realms very briefly, but was easily distracted by things like instant messenger, email, Google Reader, and work. I'll probably have better luck on the PS3, where my only distraction will be notifications of people coming online that I never game with.

Is a free-to-play MMO on the PS3 something you're interested in? That whole "free" thing has got to help, eh?

I was just discussing this with people last week. PS3s should COME with this thing already installed. People love free games!

I know they could just play it online, but the majority of the world hasn't even HEARD of this game. It would be a great new bullet point to put on every PS3 box to entice new customers.

Free or not, I don't see myself ever playing this. Still, too bad Sony didn't put the resources they've wasted on Home into this, as it at least looks vaguely interesting.

"Free" in the gaming world just means they'll try to nickle and dime you later with micro transactions (Home, Battlefield Heroes). Either that or it'll be unplayable because you'll be bombarded with ads.

I dunno. I mean I know it's unfair but I hear "free-to-play MMO" and "PS3" and just immediately think of Home.

I know the two aren't relevant to each other or anything but it just happens and I kind of stop caring.

This was developed as a kids game, so don't take this as a teen+ MMO

I actually put a good 80 hours into this game on the pc. The world is huge and very diverse, bunch of different forms of gameplay, it really was an awesome game.

However, I quit because SOE is totally up their ass about it being a kids only game. If you register as under a certain age, you can't use chat, if you want to be a "patrol" member, you have to be under 17. If your in the middle of nowhere chatting it up with a bud saying things like "kill this bastard spider" or "fuck I'm almost dead" even if it's 3am and no kids are around, they'll ban you for a week.

Such a cool game hindered by SOE's strict rules on it being a kid game.
