PS3 version of Eternal Sonata adds dress-up mode, two new playable characters photo

Eternal Sonata: First it was an Xbox 360-only title, then it was a PS3 one, too. And later, it wasn't again... and now we have new details on exclusive bonus features coming to the PS3 version.

IGN reports on a few new additions to the musical role-playing game, including two new playable characters. Crescendo and Serenade were key characters in the Xbox 360 version, but they were not actually playable. Now they will be able to take part in battle in the PS3 version. Crescendo makes use of a mace and shield, while Serenade uses a heart-shaped staff.

The addition of a new costume system is also being reported -- this will let you freely change the costumes of your character. I guess that PS3 gamers seem like the "dress-up type" to Namco Bandai. Also, new events are being added to flesh out the story line.

PS3 gamers will have to wait until 2008 to get their souped-up version of Eternal Sonata, but at least they're getting something for the wait.

[thanks, JV]

Oh man, if we get to make Polka walk around in just a bikini, I would... feel really dirty.

Thats sounds kind of cool. But it's nothing that would make me wait for the game to come out on the PS3 though.

Not if Sony bought that as an exclusive content.

I don't mind multi-platform releases, but I wish the developer would let us know that there is
a)another version being released
and b) if there's any additional content in the new version.

If I owned both a PS3 and a 360 and I got it for the 360, I would be a mite bit upset.

Necros: I wouldn't be surprised to see this as DLC on the 360 later.

360 does not have good luck with japanese RPGs.

though I suppose getting it first is still nice.

If a bikini is added...Ebaumsworld will probably be overloaded with Eternal Sonata Rule 34.

Usually this happens the other way around. Good news for Sony loyalists.

Please understand that this game will do much better in japan than its predecessor. I think most people forget that the breakbox still sells like shit in Japan. As long as ps3 continues to outsell it in the homeland then the games will just keep coming to it.

Oblivion, Rainbow Six, and GRAW2 all had free extra content on the PS3 versions, it looks like there are lots of positive things that come out of a late release.

and VF5 has online play, extra costumes, and balanced fighting. Meh, shit happens but I think I'll have to sacrifice two minimal things for getting the game in a matter of hours rather than months.
