" and you should just keep giving the industry more of your money until your problem goes away. "
I know this is all the same sentence but I broke it up into 2 parts for a reason:
First quote/half kinda spits in the face of your other article about the Book of Memories Facebook thing, even if the quote itself isn't pointed at the PS3 people who are complaining, but the xbox/PC folks telling them to quit it.
I mean, you trashed the Silent Hill group for having pretty much a similarly (albeit misguided) set of opinions as possibly any person complaining about the PS3 not being able to run Bethesda's stuff. You pretty much claimed that because they decided that they needed to make a group to complain harder, that their opinions (most of which were goofy as fuck no matter how you slice it) weren't really all that valid because they were over reacting -when, honestly, that's how most gamers ever really react to anything.
So I don't know if I see it as different that these people tell them they're over reacting. The fact that they aren't doing in as a well thought out set of words/thoughts as you did, doesn't really change the fact that the goal is the same as yours, with that prior article.
The second part in separated into quotation really is what happens any way, isn't it? Think about it, even if that's not what you meant, its still a pretty distinct fact that everyone chooses to forget: Bethesda makes games that are buggier then shit, pisses people off, but then those same people laugh it off with a wink and a nod and keep throwing their cash at them and handing them awards for it, just to loop around and get pissed all over again. Same as it ever was.
It doesn't take simply buying another console to do it, all Bethesda/Zenimax needs to do is simply release a game with the gamebryo engine(or whatever new-but-used-gamebryo-parts engine Skyrim had) and let the same old shit fly as the last time.
Simply put, Bethesda/Zenimax now knows they don't really need to do jack shit to get people to buy their games or to be named game of the year. They have the buzz of the whole industry simply by whispering that they've got a game in the works. They let the customers hash out how to fix their games, cause, you know, customers have been basically paying to fix their games for pretty much a decade now, if not more.
I do have to admit though, most of Daniel Anderson's quote was pretty spot on before he went overboard. Sony -not even just its hardcore fans- falls all over themselves ridiculously at their exclusives.. Its pretty much been the PS3 creedo that if it isn't exclusive to the system then it isn't worth their time. So yeah, he had a point that when it turns around on them they start bitching and moaning.. But then he just devolves into idiocy with the rest of the quote.
Phew. For a second I really thought I was in opposite world. Good thing someone is keeping this bullshit rhetoric the outlets spew alive!
Sony fans can be dreadfully annoying, pointing the finger at everyone but Sony's PS3 design team every time the PS3 suffers from performance issues.
That's why as your game time increases on the PS3 the framerate and load times both turn to shit. The same problem happens to the other Gamebryo engined games, Fallout New Vegas was chronic for it.
Adding DLC, obviously, would only give the game even more nonsense to keep track of, and they may simply have found that the engine is at capacity on the platform to the point that adding the DLC would push it over the edge into a genuinely bad player experience.
So it's not like I'm going to side with those PS3 players who whine in a rather disrespectful way or threat with support piracy unless they get what they want.
Also, gotta love PC elitists. But, yeah, let's just talk about the moronic 360 fanboys.
David Correia I have skyrim for PS3 but well there is no DLC yet, so the money I was saving for dawnguard I waste that money in a little ship and now I am sailing to the pirate bay :) hehehe
Charlemagne Kowal Release it on ps3 then, you twats...
Setä Sikalainen To all you consolefags, get yourselves some PC so you can actually start PLAYING. PS3 is kinda cute if you're girl or 12 of course but...
Sebastian Benders Bethesda- you, sirs, are a bunch of idiots.
And so on...
I love the fact that this game won a lot of GOTY awards.
I'm not saying Bethesda doesn't like the PS3, but I feel it's more that they're biting off more they can chew, and won't admit it.
I have a PS3 because I like Sony and their games, and I don't care about internet play. Simple as that. Being marginalized by retards on the internet is, at the least, annoying, and easily offensive, if things like that get to you. Giving a louder voice to idiots is arguably dangerous. Shame on you for that, Destructoid
And to say "Just buy an Xbox already" is missing the point by so much that I'm not even gonna comment on it
now I can play metal gear solid 4, little big planet, uncharted, journey. also, I get an operating system that is not plastered with adverts.
and I get controllers that are wireless by default and recharge easily.
it's not that think ps3 is a blatantly better system. there are some things it's not quite so good at. but I just don't have hundreds of ponds to be able to afford two systems. I don't see why i ought to be insulted for that fact and I don't see the sense in insulting other people for their personal choices. and if a company fails to release content on my console when they have clearly made a commitment with the main game. it seems a bit like a slap in the face.
I don't own skyrim so I'm not biased in this case.
Bathesda is an ass company of decent writers and shitty as hell programmers. Shame on the gaming media for giving them a pass on gawd damn everything.
"Hurrrrr durrr...their games runs at 3 fps and crashes often. 90!!"
and the PS3 has the cell processor which while impressive is hardly standard. Which means obviously it will be the harder of the three to code for and the most likely to hit unforeseen roadblocks and limitations.
2) The first dude does have a point in that exclusive DLC blows. When I didn't have a PS3 and Batman came out I felt burned that only the PS3 version got Joker because Sony gave out wads of cash to make it permanently exclusive
Time and resources spent on dlc could be used to, I don't know, make sure the base game functions the way it should function.
But I guess they can't charge for a patch so...
Also, I'd like to join the call to bring back Fanboy Fridays! They used to be the perfect way to get my weekends started off right in college.
An Xbox is a plastic shell of computer components. The reason PC and 360 games are easy to swap back and forth is because they use similar architecture, it has nothing to do with "handle it". Bathesda didn't want to port two different code sets so they essentially just emulate PC games on the PS3, not taking advantage of any additional or proprietary hardware. What you get is crap.
I agree with you entirely! Although I'd feel guilty asking anyone to trawl through the internet looking at... this... week after week!
Another problem is that most people are selfish assholes who live in tiny bubbles and complain about invalid issues, or even try to use complaints to push their own agenda. Filtering all of that crap is a pain up the ass. Everything keeps getting worse because of this kind of crap.
*Take a wild guess what version of Skyrim I hate*
Drone more idiots.
"Ps3 players don't deserve anything." - Chris Morris.
Brilliant.
So... they say the reason they have to pay for Xbox Live is so Microsoft can secure exclusives that would otherwise be available on both consoles? And that's worthwhile for them?
