The age of exclusives is crawling to an end faster than Lindsay Lohan's career (you see, 'cause I'm Hollywood now, I can say such things). The latest headshot to Sony's PlayStation 3 is the confirmation today by Electronic Arts that Mercenaries 2 will NOT be a PS3 exclusive as was once thought. Damn Sony, it must be hard out there for a pimp:
As suspected for months, Mercenaries 2 will be coming to Xbox 360, but it will also be hitting PC and the aging PS2. The game will hit all platforms simultaneously for holiday 2007.
Neither EA nor Pandemic revealed the differences between each platform’s version of the game.
Pandemic CEO Andrew Goldman offered in a statement, “All four platforms are incredible gaming machines, and from the beginning we designed an experience that accentuates their individual strengths and delivers the interactive freedom and explosive action Mercenaries fans demand."
Strange that the game is coming to just about everything but the Wii. I thought PS2 to Wii ports were all the rage these days.

So which one will fall next: Devil May Cry or Metal Gear? Not that I really like either series anyways.
Anyway I stopped thinking about getting a PS3 when they announced Unreal III on the 360. That and Metal Gear were my only reasons to get a PS3.

I understand why developers wont change a game from next gen to last gen (or "new gen") but why in the world they cant port a PS2 game to Wii? and they did the same with the Star Wars game I mean wtf!? Lucasarts come on, be honest with us. did Mario pounded you in kindergarten or something?
Anyways, cool that the Xbox 360 is getting mercenaries. although it was a bit obvious they were NOT exclusive. The first mercenaries went to all consoles.

Firstly, believe me it is the last generation it ever happens. Note that even now, both the X360 and the PS3 use PC-type GPUs-the X360 uses a cut down R600, and the PS3 uses something close to a GF7800.

And btw Im not kidding about wii 2.0 I just read that somewhere (I would like to omit since it wasn't here) it says they wont change the hardware, but heres hoping. I mean, I wouldnt mind AT all paying an extra $100-$200 for an actual Next gen Wii.

Wii 2.0 isn't happening, not in the way you're hoping for. They are supposed to come out with a Wii that will support DVD playback (something I NEVER care about in a game console myself). As far has HD goes, considering that the Wii is selling well in the US and Japan why would Nintendo go against their entire marketing philosophy at this point? HD support has to be built into the software too, and adding it at this stage would end up being a confusing headache for developers and consumers. The Wii was never meant to compete on equal footing with the 360 and PS3 as far as graphics go. They wanted a small, quiet, low-power consuming system with a unique player interface. The Wii is not supposed to be a hardcore gamer's console. They're not going to change their tune now, especially since people are still buying the systems.
And don't tell me that the 360 has lost nearly no exclusives "If any"... It has, but the general fanboydom rarely ever speaks of it.

Nearly every exclusive is being lost by Sony because Devs know where the money is this generation of console sales.
