Looking forward to Unreal Tournament III? Well, if you are, I hope you own an Xbox 360 or decent PC rig, because if you just own a PlayStation 3, you may have to wait a bit. According to Midway's release schedule, the PS3 version of Unreal will come out in 2008, while the 360 and PC versions will come out in 2007. Ouch. From Pro-G:
According to new information released today from Midway, Unreal Tournament 3 (formerly Unreal Tournament 2007) will be released in the second half of 2007 for PC and Xbox 360. PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait until 2008.
A midway rep has confirmed to Pro-G that this is not a mistake and is the latest information they have on the game's release.
[Update: Epic's Mark Rein cleared up the confusion on the Epic forums:
The release schedule you posted was incorrect because there is no formal SKU plan yet for this product. Epic (who makes this decision, NOT Midway) have absolutely NOT decided whether the SKUs for this product will be released simultaneously or in staggered order and we have absolutely NOT decided (because we don't know yet) when any of them will be released. If our publisher gave you information contrary to this they did so in error.
The statement that UT3 was "a console exclusive on the PlayStation 3" in also incorrect. We have never had any console exclusivity arrangements for UT3.
Portions of UT3 will be shown on PS3 at the Game Developers Conference in March as part of our Unreal Engine 3 demonstration.

Fortunately I can use the excessively loud and hot xbox 360 on top of my TV to wick away any excess moisture that gather upon my testes.
Oh, and JamesSorensen, I think Halo should wait on UT3, if that's the case. I know which one I'd buy day and date if I had to choose.
You could hold a Needler to my head all day long and I'd still choose UT over Halo.
I'd choose UT over Half Life or Counter Strike or Quake 3.
When the new UT hits, I'll take off the day from work. I won't do that for anything else.
