PS3 steerings to lack force feedback photo

As much as I hate to be the bearer of more bad PS3 news, no one else at Dtoid seems to be awake. Kindly refrain from directing your hatred at me. Like they say, "Don't blame the messenger."

Now that we have that out of the way, let's get this over with. The PS3 doesn't have rumble. Now it won't have force feedback in its steering wheels. Ever. Here's what Sony had to say to 1UP regarding the issue:

All PS3 games are programmed for the SIXAXIS which doesn't have force feedback, therefore the force feedback in the wheels won't be recognized.

Ouch. I would hate to be a PS3 racing fan right now.

I hear so many people say that there are problems with the Wii. What are they? I personally haven't experienced any of them. Yet, day after day, I find yet ANOTHER thing being brought to our attention about the PS3 that is wrong with it. The only thing I kick myself for concerning the PS3 is that I didn't get one when it first came out and no one knew about all these problems so I could turn around and sell it on Ebay for a 4 figure profit.

Oh, and thanks for giving me something to do this early in the morning Ishaan. I get caught up by 8 or 830 most mornings and have to wait till everyone's awake at Dtoid to see something new on here.

used my logitech GT ps2 wheel for GT HD Concept.

no rumble, but after a couple seconds, not minutes, i find myself not caring about it and having a blast

Rumble and force feedback were last-gen, remember?

I'm personally a bit disappointed by the wiimote's rumble (i guess zelda's rumble was programmed with the gamecube controller in mind), but it really shines in wii tennis associated with the speaker, and it'd be a shame if it weren't there

HMMM...this is unacceptable. How will I ever scratch my nuts without touching this. Rumble, I miss you. Gameplay will never be the same...

Well, one thing that's kinda annoying is that since the Opera browser is dead silent when in use, all I hear is the motor for the rumble when I'm surfing. eh... I could do without having to hear that. Even if the Wii Menu music was playing over it, it'd be a lot more tolerable.

rumble in my opinion is a big deal. It totally adds to the experience of video games. you just added another sensory input. You have vision and hearing, but with rumble you have the touch as well. as for driving games. try driving a car with really good steering setup as apposed to a car like a camery with very numb steering. not nearly as fun.

think about driving a car without feeling the road at all. it would be very hard.

Hmm.. let me call captain obvious of course you dont have feedback if you are designing a game for a controller with no rumble I mean Duh!

However if you are a good developer and you want to handle and specific periferic (aka a Force Feedback device such as an OFFICIAL driving wheel set) of course you can do it by building your own software driver in the game (duh!) how do you think the first eye toy was created ? the ps2 already had a camera driver? I dont think so!

Stop the goddamned Sony FUD is getting really tiresome, the PS3 sucks now, and the Wii rules, but wait ONE YEAR and then we will talk.

BTW there were more PS3 sold in US than Wii( 750,000 against 700,000) last year. Check vgcharts.org right now. Also the PS3 sold 1.2 million in just 2 countries. While the Wii sold 3.5 million -worldwide- The PS3 is NOT sinking despite all the Digg like idiotic articles we have to endure every single day.

The fact that the wiimote rumbles every time you hover over a selection is the dumbest thing in the world. No wonder it eats batteries like zombies eat brains.

Just wait for the ps3 to be emulated on other systems, by then the rumble features hopefully can be emulated too.

GT HD: the most realistic driving game ever... except the cars still take no damage and the steering wheel is akin to the one from the RC-Pro/Am arcade machine.

So wait a minute..I've got Driving Force Pro here complete with GT logo and now the force feedback will not work? LAME!! Doesn't matter though I've tried the wheel with GT4 and the game was still crap.

Had more fun with that wheel using it with BO3 and it was obvious not made for it. And if that wheel can work on a PC it might be possible to use it with a X360.
