Gamasutra is reporting that Final Fantasy XIII is the most anticipated PS3 game of all upcoming titles, topping a chart of games that PS3 owners want the most. Despite its multiplatform status, it seems that Sony loyalists aren't ready to abandon a title that many of them most likely bought the PlayStation 3 for in the first place.
PS3 owners certainly want the game more than Xbox 360 owners, if the recent polls are to be believed. FFXIII ranks fourth in the most anticipated Xbox 360 games, trailing behind Halo 3: ODST, Modern Warfare 2 and Madden NFL 10. Another interesting difference between the two polls is the fact that, outside of Halo 3, all the other Xbox 360 games are multiplatform titles (unless you want to count Broken Steel), while the PS3 poll lists such exclusives as God of War III, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, inFamous and Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time.
This year seems to have seen an interesting turnabout when it comes to exclusive first party titles. For the past few years, the PS3 has been tarnished with the stigma of having "no games." In 2009, I think it's fair to say that the PlayStation brand has a whole range of first party games, while the Xbox 360 seems to have a pitiful amount to show for itself so far, outside of the Halo franchise. I wonder when PS3 fanboys will finally summon the gall to reverse the "no games" charge at Xbox 360 fans.
That said, both the PS3 and 360 lists are dominated by identical multiplatform games, which suggests that the audiences are almost completely the same. When you consider how much PS3 and 360 fanboys hate each other, it's amusing to consider the fact that, deep down, they are exactly alike.
Owning a 360, I am rather excited for Final Fantasy XIII. Any square-enix game for that matter.
Is this a offense?
Also Microsoft does have an advantage when it comes to PC gaming.
Jim is clearly calling PS3 owners out as a bunch of filthy weaboos, while pointing out how cool and awesome 360 owners are for liking intellectually rewarding stuff like Madden and Halo!
Although I will admit that seeing those videos of the demo did pique my interest for XIII. It looks(at the very least) like it has an engaging battle system.
I didn't think people still had this kind of faith in Square games.
.....wat?
R u poopin?
If MS does a big ad campaign for FF, I can easily see GoW3 taking the most anticipated title for the PS3.
Nope , Square has been doing a lot of shity stuff lately ...
GG Jim.
Personally, I'm looking forward more to Front Mission Evolved on 360 a bit more, and its so nice to see Square at last giving FM a chance. Less andro characters hopefully, as well as a magic free game, tech based game.
Either way I'm still looking forward to getting it for my PS3.
Oh and I think PS3 owners might be looking forward to it more because of the bigger Japanese market, just my two cents on the matter.
Anyway bring on the never ending FF series with FF13.
It's still at least another year off and the Japanese will get it for a full year before we do. At least with R&C: ACIT, I know it will be out fairly soon and it will totally rock!
I for certain will buy FF XIII but the demo they released, isn't all that inspiring.
Actually i don't really mind games getting released on both 360 n ps3.It's the increasing number of games getting released on PC which makes me wonder what's the point with buying consoles.
And Wii is the one with most exclusives , 'nuff said lol.
This is as obvious as obvious gets. The fact that FF XIII is anticipated more on PS3 is a no-brainer, but the fact that it's number one is what throws me off. I can't believe it triumphed over GoW 3, especially being that FF XIII is now multi-platform.
Thanks! I'll tell Niero to replace me with you, since obviously you know what my job entails much more than I do!
I bet Platypus came in hear thinking:
"Im gonna fuck shit up in here with my baseless facts, Im gonna sound so smart, you just watch. And they wont even notice how much shortsightness I have either, Im pretty much the coolest kid in school!"
