Analysts care not whether they fan the flames of fanboy rage, so it is that EEDAR has published research -- seemingly for no other reason than to start sh*t -- showing that PlayStation 3 games get the best ratings. According to the results, one in eight PS3 games get an average review rating of 85% or higher.
The thing is, most reviewers are terrified to give a PS3 exclusive less than 85% because an army of deranged, sex-starved, blood-hungry Sony obsessives will hunt them down. When you consider how much pressure there seems to be to give PS3 games high scores, it's hardly surprising that you see so many highly rated games.
On the flip side, the Wii and DS bring nothing but shame to the table with only 2% of their libraries getting into the 85%+ category. One must point out, of course, that their libraries are much larger. Ubisoft and Activision alone fill Nintendo consoles with enough shovelware to feed all of Africa. If shovelware was food. Which it isn't.
Going back to the PS3, there are some games that definitely deserve their inflated scores, such as Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 and inFAMOUS. At least when it comes to these types of statistics, it pays for Sony to release a few excellent titles, rather a ton of mediocre ones.

And everyone loses at the end.
That makes it hardkore.

Then it just sucks.
God bless research!
Yeah at least Jesus was smart enough to save before the end so he could reload his checkpoint...
Xbox 360 Fanboys: Our game is better than yours, Your game is less good. Repeat for every third game.
PS3 Fanboy: .......................OH MY GOD ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME THIS IS RIDICULOUS THIS GAME IS BETTER THAN THE ENTIRE 360 AND THE 360 IS SO SHIT ITS AMAZING JUST HOW BAD IT IS.................. Repeat every 15.
Essentially, what I'm saying is this: 360 Fanboys are a steady stream of bias, like a river, giving bias here and there as they please. PS3 Fanboys are like an avalanche, in that they will only happen occasionally, but like HELL will it be horrific. The comments for the Killzone 2 review were like watching Monty Python the first time, complete disbelief followed by absolute hilariously stupidity to the point its almost as if it were scripted.
Seriously. Damn maphacker.
@The Article
This is so stupid I don't even want to read it. The comments on the article there are the best; everybody who acts rationally gets thumbs down for some reason. I swear people must troll that comments section all day and night simply to thumbs down crap.
Where are they getting the scores from Metarcitic? Well on metacritic ps3 games only have half the number of reviewers 360 games have, which tend to raise their score a bit.
Don't believe me? Go to metacritic and check out a multiplatform game, the 360 one usually has 1/3 more critic review scores.
Then again, MEtal Gear 4 and Little Bit Planet are really huge games, the latter one being actually really innovative. Unfortunately, I didn't find inFamous to be that groundbreaking and Killzone felt a little generic. Great games, just not what media made me believe it was.
I stopped at home for lunch and, while I was having a sandwich, decided to see if the Killzone 2 update that is supposed to launch to day was available. It wasn't, but I realized in pulling Killzone 2 off the shelf, from between MGS4 and Valkyria Chronicles, that the PS3 kicks plenty of ass.
But I am digging Infamous right now and I'm kinda curious as to why it was crossed out,is the review coming soon?
I agree.
@ Black Nexus
Becasue Jim is REALLLLY waiting for [prototype]....
inFamous is just his sucky warm up i guess.

@ jim
You should know better than teasing the BloodThirsty, fanboys.
Because the game is not all that great at all.
A review of it is coming, with me, Anthony and Conrad working on the game. However, there was confusion over the sending of a review copy and I had to rush out to buy the game, so it's gonna be late.

You're kidding, right?
Anyway, as for the article, I don't care which consoles get the "best" games, as long as I'm enjoying them. If I really wanted to be a dick and point out how I actually do prefer the PS3 over the 360, I'd probably point out how it doesn't matter if the 360 has a better library if the console doesn't work. But I'd never say something like that. ;)
I have only played the Demo for inFamous and I have to honestly agree. When I compare the game visually to others, it is pretty decent in those standards. Does alright. The gameplay I find is steady. I find that the game in general was good, but my first thought after completing the demo was "Maybe a bit overhyped, this one". That's kind of the way I take it.
Aside from that, I can't say that i've experienced everything the game has to offer. But from what little experience i've had, I can say that I agree that the game is not "great". But it's still decent enough to warrant a pretty good nod in favor of gameplay. That's just my opinion.
I'm with trev here, I really feel sucker punch delivered with Infamous, now I really wanna see your review.
The reason PS3 exclusives get such good ratings is because they're nearly all fantastic games.
You should also look up the meaning of "inflated." Perhaps it means something different where you come from or maybe Mississippi is just sinking its claws into you and making you retarded.
I'd hate to not be considered a journalist!
"The reason PS3 exclusives get such good ratings is because they're nearly all fantastic games."
Just read the feature I linked to on this. I do believe that hype and reader reaction has a strong influence on game scoring. That's not taking anything away from the PS3 games that are legitimately great, like MGS4 and KZ2, but some I feel get a lot more than they deserve, like LittleBigPlanet, which is a damn interesting game, but has way too many flaws for all the near-perfect scores it received.

Inflated has several meanings, one of the ones I used being the correct one.
And come to the same conclusion.
Keep sucking them Science, I kinda like it.
I do not know if you should have said you follow your own taste within the same sentence of sucking balls. It was a very strange pairing.
Jim loves getting the fanboys in a tizzy.
Where?
Infamous reminds me of Uncharted but in a huge city. The fact that you can shoot anywhere and change which hands to shoot on the fly makes the game so much more enjoyable.
But hey, people have different tastes in games. Not every game is gonna get stellar reviews. I'd like to read Dtoids thoughts of the game and what makes it not good to them
http://www.penny-arcade.com/2009/5/27/
"This is happening with greater and greater frequency: my inability to perceive the game I have read about in reviews.
Infamous is a decent game, and that's the whole of it. Ironically enough, it lacks spark: it lacks impetus. Whatever power it does exert grounds out after a few hours, so that by the tenth hour I was twiddling my charged thumbs wondering if there was some other mutant that could torment this grey town. It's cool to shock dudes, true. That's a good Goddamned thing, because you're going to be shocking a lot of fucking dudes.
....
Something strange happens with platform exclusive titles when they come into contact with the journalistic edifice, and I don't know what it is. I would make sure you download the demo."
As for the PS3 getting better scores, I guess Microsoft should start buying out more third party developers and more exclusive dlc.
