PS3 firmware version 1.9 is live in North America photo
     Community Badassness

The PS3 version 1.9 software that Nick told us about yesterday is live and ready for the downloading in North America. How did we know? We received this absolutely brilliant email tip:

Subject: 1.9 is out for the States!

Post instantspeedilyquickomundo! I want the destructoid fame and
hopefully *makes a fist and a tear* some fortune.
-shindokie

We've confirmed availability in the United States and Canada, so get to downloading.

[thanks, shindokie]

I’d download it right now, but I don’t want to interrupt my search for a cure for cancer.

I wish they'd implement in-game XMB... D:
But this is still a nice firmware update. I know a lot of people want custom backgrounds, but I for one love the default XMB's wave background, so I wouldn't change it for anything.

Rearranging games is pretty nice. When I had my hands on one, the demos and downloaded games were all mixed up. Calling All Cars, the full game, was between a Ninja Gaiden demo and a Super Rub-A-Dub demo.

Was definitlly stoked on the in game changing of video settings, finally able to get a quick look at the difference between the differnet setting.

Too bad the PS3 *still* can't upscale 720p games to 1080i like every other true HD device can. The 360 which is less expensive and supposedly less powerful upscales *all* games to 1080i.

*gasp* don't you guys see?!?! The PS4 is almost ready for launch ! They can't make any more versions or else it would have to be the PS4! Hopefully it has Super Turbo Blue-Ray HD remix support.
