Oh dear oh dear, Firmware 3.0 has not won any fans since it launched for the PlayStation 3 this week. After installing the new system update, some users have complained of new bugs in Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and WipEout HD. Now, to make matters worse, there are also reports of it causing controllers to malfunction.
According to the complaints, this new issue affects the "Ceramic White" DualShock 3 controller. Those suffering from problems claim that the controller's LED ports are lit as if the controller is active, but the peripheral itself won't actually work.
As with the Uncharted glitch, this doesn't seem to be a widespread issue and is just affecting an unlucky few. Even so, I'm kind of glad I've not yet switched my PS3 on to download the new update. Someone let me know when it's safe to do that, and I'll get on it right away.

But seriously, that's no fun. Sorry PS3 owners! =( I don't know anything about firmware, but still...don't these seem like really freakin' random errors?
I think they need to take that back and fix the problems before more shit is thrown their way.

I've updated my PS3 throughout EVERY SINGLE UPDATE that was available from the very beginning, never once skipping any. I have NEVER had a problem with any of them, and I've been playing it constantly since the 3.0 update USING MY IMPORTED CERAMIC WHITE CONTROLLER. I don't understand where these problems are coming from... There's no way it could be affecting more than 1% of PS3 owners.

At least the firmware isn't breaking consoles like it happens regularly with the 360 and its updates.

There are plenty of people out there who are very happy with the changes including myself. The thing is faster, it looks better and it's on the ps3.

@Daxel maybe you should cause Uncharted was fuckin awesome and prolly one of the most underrated games that came out that year. I'm still scratching my head why Bioshock got so much praise and game of the year from so many people after playing it...
oh and btw; I did the update, though the new larger font size will take some getting used to, I haven't had a single problem. Seriously, a firmware update isn't gonna fry your ps3 or peripheral in any way that can't be undone.
My biggest worry was when I tried to update. The whole thing crashed, luckily it was fine of cause.
Yes, there is some 360 trolling vis-a-vis:

I'm seeing some embarrassing figures on both sides of the fence.
The onlything I miss the the start up twinle sound with the PS3 symbol lettming me know that, hey, your game will be starting shortly.
If you do a little looking around on youtube you can see those same controllers barely were able to connect before the patch, so i imagine its the low quality bluetooth chip in it or something.
