PS3 and PSP to get the ultimate zoom-in technology photo

I know you've always dreamed of using your PS3 or PSP to be able to zoom into super high-resolution images to see the finest detail. Oh, wait...you haven't? Well, what if this image enlargement tech was being used to link documents together, or to hide advertisements in images? Marginally interested? I'm with you, but the technical demonstration videos showing off this technology are pretty interesting.

As shown in the video below, a PS3 (and later a PSP) are used to zoom into images to reveal small, hidden details. By enlarging images, you'll be able to see content that wasn't visible before. Think of it as a data tree, or hyperlinks; zoom in enough, and you'll see something else. Seeing how images and even videos appear from a little speck on a calendar is pretty neat, though it seems like just slightly less work than clicking a hyperlink.

Also displayed is the potential for hidden advertisements. For example, in one image of a wedding, zooming into the depicted photographer's camera shows an ad inside his lens.

Sony will soon pass this technology off to game developers, though I can't imagine what they'd use it for. Porn would be more interesting.

well, it can't be more useless than Natal now can it?

all jokes aside, I'd like it if they actually invested some time into making their web browsers not suck so bad.

That was pretty cool I guess, but I think I was expecting something else from reading about it. It's not like that fake image enhancement technology on NCIS where you can take a low res image and magically turn it high res to extract details out of it.

Wow... I don't think this could be used for gaming, but that's actually pretty impressive.

Now they'll make managing your save files frustrating because to access it you have to access some random fucking pixel in a Breughel painting for an interface. Kidding.

Looks amazing for maps and general data stuff. It COULD be used for games, something obvious like an adventure game or maybe something crazy like a strategy game or platformer? Who knows.
