PS2 gets its own wiggle wand photo

It seems like gaming companies are slowly taking away our right to sit still and motionless while playing our games. The Wii already has us doing every type of silly motion humanly possible, and even the PS3 sometimes has us flicking our controllers about, but now it looks like more arm flailing is coming to the PlayStation2.

A company called In2Games will be showing new motion-sensing peripherals at the Leipzig Gaming Convention. Upcoming title names include Realplay Tennis, Realplay Pool, Realplay Golf, Realplay Racing, Realplay Bowling and Realplay Puzzlesphere, all of which will be available in time for Christmas. Each title's respective wireless controllers will emulate tennis rackets, pool cues, golf clubs, and more.

The new device uses a motion-sensing technology called Freedom, and In2Games hopes to use it to tap into the massive Wii market.

“The Realplay range of games is aimed squarely at those PS2 owners who want to play wireless motion-sensing games without needing to splash out on a new console,” said Elliott Myers, CEO of In2Games.

Will this be something we want? It's hard to say just yet, but title names like Realplay Puzzlesphere sound like $5 Wal-Mart shareware to these ears. Will this be a budget Wii, or is it just another embarrassing knock-off?

No, nintendo could have done this and not had to make everyone buy a new console, but they know how to make shit print money!

in2games actually made the well recieved game trak and real world golf. i think there also used to be promo vids of these devices, but i couldn't find the youtubes. they honestly look more responsive then what the wii has to offer.

basically, these will not be shitty walmart titles.

Lame, didnt take long for someone to rip the Wii off!!
I can see them being a flop with no games and maybe some 'its flown through my TV' lawsuits!

Motion sensor control is not something you can tak on as an after thought. I'm sure there are still people out there who think the Wii is just a simple case of a Gamecube with motion controls, they think "Hey, it's just a Gamecube with motion controls, we can do that." No it's not and no you can't.

You may as well say "The DS is just a Gameboy with touchscreen control", it's just a really lazy way of thinking.

Ok I could understand the bottom 4 peripherals but a bowling ball?

There goes your HDTV, Walls, Wii, Windows, Lamp, Stereo, anything you own, etc.

It's funny when people say they hate this Wii controller crap, same thing was said about the original d-pad controller, which as everyone knows, was also introduced by Nintendo. People preferred the joystick and at first thought the d-pad was a gimmick. Today is a different era, same attitude though.

Yep, and everyone seemed to hate the N64 controller but everyone seems to enjoy the analog stick and rumble now don't they? Fanboys. Wait until Sony and Microsoft fully copy the Wii's motion controls (Sony already slipped the SIXAXIS there at the last minute). I bet we'll see it as soon as next generation. Then everyone will love it.

I also echo what people said above. You can't just release a periphrial/add-on and have people buy that and the games from there on. Ask Sega. Besides, if they did, the graphics wouldn't be better (see Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB, etc.), no Virtual Console, etc.

They only way I could see this working is if each game with controller is cheap enough. If they charge like $50-$70 for one game with controller I dont see anyone buying like 4-5 of these games when they could get a wii much cheaper with free wii sports and no need to individual controllers for each sport.
