The PlayStation 2 classic strategy RPG GrimGrimoire is now available in the...PlayStation 2 Classic section of the PlayStation Network -- where else?
Now this is speaking my language. We're talkin' a delicious 2D strategy RPG for PS2 that was made by both Nippon Ichi Software and Vanillaware. It's everything I require in a game. They could have named this game "Dale North."
Back in 2007 this game cost about $50. Now you're getting it for $9.99 as a download. How times have changed.
We've got new screenshots in our gallery below.
How happy are you to see PS2 classics coming to the PS3?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I think this could be more of a Vita initiative but am not complaining. Hopefully more great games come soon!
Well, in all fiarness, if that was the reason, I don't think it would've taken THIS long..
Also, I'm rather surprised no one's called Sony on this, but there was absolutely no effort on their part to give you the option within the emulation to resize the image so it doesn't look so blurry.
And it all looks blurry.
Its true that I could hook up some component cables for the PS3, but I really shouldn't have to just for this.
Plus, it is about only the halfway point of the PS3's life cycle, if their 10 year generation is to believed (which I do believe, considering how long the PS2 has been selling).
The games available are GrimGrimorie, God Hand, Odin Sphere, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory and Ring of Red.
I got Odin Sphere and God Hand. The games themselves seem fine, but I'd almost swear they were intended for Vita instead, because again, the games come off pretty damn blurry on an HD set and the default resolution here is 720p on PS2 classics, which probably isn't helping.
Thanks for sharing, that is actually an issue for me.
Have you tried to zoom the image in with the TV? Most of the times that helps.
Still blurry. Maybe just slightly less, but only slightly.
Just for reference, I use an Insignia HDTV that can scale to 1080p. I'm not an HD whore by any means, but this is seriously the first time I've had a problem with the difference in graphics/resolution. And I think Muramasa is gorgeous in 480p, so its kinda painful to see Odin Sphere forced beyond what its capable of.
I'm sure it would look fine at 480p, its just sort of a pain in the arse to get another set of components and switch them out constantly with my Wii.
I still have my PS2 so It's not a big deal to me,BUT if these work with the Vita then I'll be very happy.
I'd love to play Odin Sphere on a handheld.
Anyway, I don't know how possible this even is, but if they somehow make PS2 download games playable on the Vita, then I will give them any amount of money they desire for it.
Because NIS released screenshots to Dtoid and Dale picked them up and made an article about it. Nothing more than that. The gallery is actually the story. Dale just made it something more interesting.
haven't bought these on PS2, might pick this up :P
It already feels kind of like that since I purchased Odin Sphere, Grim Grimoire and God Hand on the PS2 and now I have the opportunity to re-purchase them all again(except for Odin Sphere since I downloaded that the instant that it became available on the PSN. Valkyries,Velvet and Pookas take priority over all else now as it did back then).
I still can't decide on which 2-D game with a time travel theme available on the PSN right now that I want to download first/at all, Grim Grimoire or Chrono Trigger(which I still have in PS1 disc form), so I can go over the decision again over and over every day trying to successfully break the cycle but ultimate fail to do so...just like in Grim Grimoire!
Never played this one. Worth my time?
