Tiny new system, big potential

New Sony product PS Vita TV lets you play Vita games on your television.

Andrew House took the stage at a pre-TGS press conference this morning in Japan to show off this new pocket-sized system. This 6cm x 10cm device will allow your TV to access Hulu and other like services, watch PS Store videos/movies, tweet, email, and much more.

And as the name suggests, the PS Vita TV will let you play Vita games on your television, as well as downloadable PSP and PSOne games. There's even multiplayer support for Vita games. Just keep in mind that Vita games that need touchscreen action won't work with this system.

Amazingly, it's also a companion device for the PS4. Via remote play it will allow you to play PS4 games from another room, for example.

In Japan it will be released for 9,480 yen (about $95) this November 15. A bundle with an 8GB memory card and Dual Shock 3 controller will also be released, priced at about $150.

The PS Vita TV is tiny -- just big enough for its LAN, USB, and HDMI ports (yes, it comes with a HDMI cable) on the back edge. And aside from a card slot, that's about it. On the wireless side, expect WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Video resolution tops out at 1080i, with 720p and 480p being options.

Deception IV: Another Princess adds on a ton to the core game

Deception IV is a great game that really reminded me of good old-school design. On the surface everything is fairly easy to pick up, but there's a ton of secrets and hidden content with the core package that's -- gasp -- on t...more

The Stein's Gate game is coming to Vita, PS3 in 2015

I haven't gotten around to the Steins;Gate game yet, but I absolutely loved the show from start to finish. Some people say it starts off a little slowly and ramps from there, but I loved the banter and buildup just as mu...more

How did Destructoid's most anticipated games of 2014 come out?

Want to feel old? January 2014 was just about one year ago. That's one whole season of a TV show or a complete Earth's orbit around the sun. Way back then--I can hardly remember it in the shadow of the god awful year--the Des...more
