Apple changed the market... you can't screw gamers like this anymore. Worst part about the handheld market is game pricing. 29.99 to 39.99 dollar pricing on Vita / 3DS games ain't flying.
4GB - 30€
8GB - 45€
16GB - 70€
32GB - 120€
Fuck off Sony. I hope there will be cheaper cards, from other companys. Uncharted is ~4GB, so I'll only be able to have one game with me if I buy the cheapest card? Pathetic.
These memory cards aren't meant for you to be able to save your games. They're meant for storing installed PSN games, as well as music and other kinds of media.
I'm not defending proprietary storage, that's just fucking stupid. But I don't think these cards (the larger ones, at any rate) are necessarily required to properly enjoy the Vita.
Everybody - "Wow! The PS Vita is a steal for that price!"
*3DS drops price*
Everybody - "WTF THE VITA IS A RIPOFF"
Perhaps a cheaper brand
Hey that's cool.
Meanwhile, those of us with integrity will voice our criticisms scrutinize a company for being sleazy.
Honestly I don't think Nintendo could of fucked up launch more given the DS successes. They had to get drastic to stay afloat...
Of course the prices will drop in time, but that isn't what people are upset about here. The high price for something that is REQUIRED to play some games is a major setback for anyone who may have wanted the system on day one. The fact is that Sony could have just used an existing memory format and had affordable sticks on day one, but they didn't. I don't think this will make anyone consider not buying a Vita at all, but they're definitely going to lose a lot of day one buyers.
I was predicting 15~25 dollars for the 4gig myself. Anyone thinking they are okay with this, you do realize that you can buy an entire ds (and sometimes an entire psp) game for this, right?
@sephirothx the vita is now officially 280$ minimum without a game.
@n7 vita has zero onboard memory.
