Are you fucking kidding me? Everytime I'm about to buy a Vita, Sony does something like this. I think I'll stick to just a 3DS now.
Man, this brings up memories of all of those dozens of articles trying to discern whether or not memory cards could be used across multiple accounts, whether or not you could have one account on a Vita, whether or not accounts could be transferred, etc. At least Sony is clearing things up for us, we should be thanking them. Also, who needs multiple accounts for a portable system? Just because I personally only use one account for a portable system, that should be how it is for everyone! (last 2 statements are sarcasm)
Man, I have two separate memory cards, that are both tied to the same account. I tried to tie the other account to the newer,empty memory card but it proved to be too darn difficult. Point is, Sony sure hates sharing.

In other words if you share a psvita with multiple people you should also share the psn account, I wonder of this means you can use your own memory card and account on multiple psvita's without trouble as that would be a fair trade, locked to account but free to use on every device.
I wasn't aware you could do that in the first place. My understanding was that you needed seperate memory cards from the start.

Not a problem for me since I only use the one account. It's violating their terms of service using multiple accounts anyway so you can't really say this is a huge shock.

I picked up a Vita on day one. Thing is a paperweight now. The only time I turn it on is to play MK with friends at work... waste of money.

As a UK gamer, I created an American PSN account so I buy & download the likes of Chrono Cross, Xenogears, and Parasite Eve - games which were never released in Europe to begin with, so they have little to no chance of appearing on the UK store.
If this update means I won't be able to freely switch between my main UK account, and the USA one when I want to play those specific games, Sony can kiss goodbye to my future purchase.

Sony are being a little heavy handed in trying to avoid that problem this time.
If they let consumers do whatever they want, piracy would be rampant, developers wouldn't make games for the system and down the line you would be taking the piss about how it's got no games and developers abandoned it.
Personally, as-fucking-always Sony are aiming right at me. They let me use the system EXACTLY how I want to. There's not a single thing I want it to do that it doesn't. - Just seems that a lot of other people want to use it in a different way.
To me it's my personal gaming machine, i use it more than any other platform, use it pretty hard on a daily basis, charge it every night, play Vita and PSP games and only use one account. Guess I'm just lucky.

Anti-consumer practices are much more tangible and vile when they occur after a product launches as a patch. If Sony wanted to avoid a shitstorm about this, they should have launched the Vita with memory cards tied to accounts, rather than giving users even the smallest taste of freedom first, setting them up to paint themselves into a corner with games from alternate accounts strewn across cards.

I share a vita with my wife. Sony didn't change anything in this regard it always wiped your memory card when you went to use a different account.
I have a vita and this does not concern me in the least. Sorry guys but no more game sharing for you?

It's handy for people like me who have Japanese PSN accounts to take advantage of the PSN's lack of region locking, and for family members who share hardware with siblings/children/parents, etc. Trust me, it's a big deal for the people that enjoy and especially for those that depend on having multiple accounts.

Overpriced proprietary cards is precisely why I wont buy this. Sd or mini sd cards with plenty of room for 20 or Sonys 100 card. Hmmm. If somehow this defeats piracy it also inconveninces the consumer. PS3lets me upgrade HDD reasonably and360 does not so PS3 becsme my choice console. Sony will be sorry for this.

It's completely logical that you need more than on vita to do everything you want who cares thoug I could import but don't even slightly know the japanes language....I would like to get the gundam game for ps vita I think its called gundam seed battle destiny?
I personally don't care about the change as most systems do this with their storage medium of choice. I also do not have multiple accounts myself nor do I share custody of my PS3/Vita with anybody else.
But, what does make me angry is that Sony would do this and people would have their memory card partially erased who were using multiple accounts WITHOUT warning them.

The Vita is region free... you only need 1 to play all international games.
And telling someone to spend MORE money on a second copy of a system they already own is a little silly and is definitely not a realistic solution for most people.

Well darn, I was thinking about making a Japanese PSN account if I ever got a Vita, to get some games that will never be released over here (like the new Digimon World game). Sony sure does try hard to make me dislike the Vita, even if it is a beautiful piece of hardware. :c

Unless you did a workaround, which I will mention below, you couldn't use the Vita card on any account that it wasn't linked to.
Here's how you use the Vita for multiple IDs, and nothing has changed, so it's exactly the same as it was, with a PS3 being required. Back up your current Vita account to your PS3, which will back up everything on the card. Format your Vita and the card. Load up the new PSN ID. Download whatever you want on the card with enough space left over for the back up. Reconnect the PS3 and apply the back up to your Vita. The back up will overwrite your current PSN account back to your original account that you had before the back up.
This is the only way to use multiple accounts with one Vita card. It's been the only way to use multiple accounts with a single Vita card.
The only thing I can think of the update doing is being a benefit. I'm not sure if it does this, but an example. If you were to format the Vita and not the card before. Regardless if you reload the Vita and keep it named as the exact same account, the account wouldn't work with your PSN ID. It'd say it needed to be formatted to work with the ID despite being the exact same ID you previously had. So the Vita card was tied to the Vita itself at the current time, and not the account.
