Vita owners hit me up PSN chronicus_pr1me
I guess a quick class action suit would probably get them to reverse direction on this fast .... oh wait that's right no-class action clause ^.^ they can screw over as many of you as they feel like because individually you can't fight back :)
Well I was expecting to have to purchase a separate memory card for another account so I guess I am not surprised at this news. :/
Right guys?
I wonder if they'll make their own special harddrive for the ps4.
The whole multiple account bit is such a pain that it's hardly worth it anymore.
Goddamn, how am I supposed to convince friends to buy this thing!
...Why is it so hard for me to love you Sony?

Soooo.... theres that.
"Uhm guys, you do know that there's no way to do multiple accounts on the 3DS either, right?"
Meh. Interesting point worth mentioning but it doesn't really excuse anything. I'd rather see people be able to do shit like this that doesn't appear to harm anyone. Not something I personally care about but I figure if we're even talking about it, someone cares so that sucks for them.
If this update means I won't be able to freely switch between my main UK account, and the USA one when I want to play those specific games, Sony can kiss goodbye to my future purchase.
Sony are being a little heavy handed in trying to avoid that problem this time.
If they let consumers do whatever they want, piracy would be rampant, developers wouldn't make games for the system and down the line you would be taking the piss about how it's got no games and developers abandoned it.
Personally, as-fucking-always Sony are aiming right at me. They let me use the system EXACTLY how I want to. There's not a single thing I want it to do that it doesn't. - Just seems that a lot of other people want to use it in a different way.
To me it's my personal gaming machine, i use it more than any other platform, use it pretty hard on a daily basis, charge it every night, play Vita and PSP games and only use one account. Guess I'm just lucky.
If this update means I won't be able to freely switch without formatting the memory card each time, Sony can kiss goodbye to my future Vita purchase.
Head to Reddit if you want sensible news and info on 1.80 and the things it actually does that matter, like ACTUALLY MAKING PSONE GAMES WORK AND NOT BEING A JOKE LIKE THIS UTTER DOUCHE WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE.
So? What does that have to do with the fact that you COULD do it on the Vita and psp and now you can't?
Nintendo didn't give you a feature and take it away, but that is just what Sony has done here.
Yes, the 3DS only allows one account as well. But that's not news. It also doesn't matter, given that the nature of the 3DS's downloadable offerings tend to be pretty tiny and at least I have not heard any story of a 3DS filling up. Has anybody ran out of space on their 3DS? I would be surprised. You aren't impressing anybody by bringing up other systems and you certainly aren't changing the facts that this is (1) fucked up and (2) anti-consumer news worth reporting.
Who knows? Maybe the 3ds will allow multiple accounts soon, on cheap none proprietary sd cards.
OT, this shouldn't be a huge deal going forward unless you're an importer... but the fact that they are locking you to an expensive format and chaining it further is pretty bad...
Here's hoping they don't start locking regional saves next...
It's handy for people like me who have Japanese PSN accounts to take advantage of the PSN's lack of region locking, and for family members who share hardware with siblings/children/parents, etc. Trust me, it's a big deal for the people that enjoy and especially for those that depend on having multiple accounts.
You can still have one memory card for one account and another memory card for another account, right? So ... what exactly has changed? I think I'm missing something..
But, what does make me angry is that Sony would do this and people would have their memory card partially erased who were using multiple accounts WITHOUT warning them.
...?
The Vita is region free... you only need 1 to play all international games.
And telling someone to spend MORE money on a second copy of a system they already own is a little silly and is definitely not a realistic solution for most people.
Please just let me take maps, welcome park and any other crap I DO NOT want off my home screen...'

Unless you did a workaround, which I will mention below, you couldn't use the Vita card on any account that it wasn't linked to.
Here's how you use the Vita for multiple IDs, and nothing has changed, so it's exactly the same as it was, with a PS3 being required. Back up your current Vita account to your PS3, which will back up everything on the card. Format your Vita and the card. Load up the new PSN ID. Download whatever you want on the card with enough space left over for the back up. Reconnect the PS3 and apply the back up to your Vita. The back up will overwrite your current PSN account back to your original account that you had before the back up.
This is the only way to use multiple accounts with one Vita card. It's been the only way to use multiple accounts with a single Vita card.
The only thing I can think of the update doing is being a benefit. I'm not sure if it does this, but an example. If you were to format the Vita and not the card before. Regardless if you reload the Vita and keep it named as the exact same account, the account wouldn't work with your PSN ID. It'd say it needed to be formatted to work with the ID despite being the exact same ID you previously had. So the Vita card was tied to the Vita itself at the current time, and not the account. This update sounds as if it'll be tied to the account so those who prefer to use multiple cards on different accounts can do so.
