Sony has revealed a super massive mega update to PlayStation Home today, and it's a lot of stuff... so get comfortable.
A new space called The Movie Theater has been announced, and it will feature 10-screens, a new lobby, original content, as well as the ability to unlock rewards for viewing select screenings. With this also comes the posibility of full length television shows or movies in the future, possibly a direct response to the new Xbox 360 Netflix party functionality.
Another new space, a Burn Zombie Burn crypt, is scheduled to arrive soon as well. In it you can watch Burn Zombie Burn videos, or play "a zombie-infested maze mini-game where you'll be challenged to find your way out before you get zombified."
but that's not all -- the official PlayStation Blog has a bunch of info on
Motorstorm content (pictured above), and a
Fat Princess (out today on PSN!) Home scavenger hunt of sorts. Check it out while I go download and reinstall Home on my PlayStation 3.
I'm definitely getting the Fat Princess throne for my space.
All the other stuff, naw.
I would prefer to see something like what Mark Rein of Epic originally said about Home... that it would provide a meeting space for gamers to meet up and form a party... then enter the game while retaining party chat and stay as a group. Home didn't release on time and that functionality he talked about never evolved... but THAT's what would appeal to gamers (especially with so many games having broken voice chat, this could be the closest we would get to the option of XMB based party chat). Other options I'd like to see are clan spaces... within the Home game space using a simple password system and not the restrictive system currently in place for the club houses.
Doesn't Sony want people to play games?? ... or would they rather have them dressing up and spending time in the free Home space?
Hahaha!
But yeah, Celicacrazed is right, Home has gotten a bit more interesting.
@Elsa
".. or would they rather have them dressing up and spending time in the free Home space?"
No rather have them dressing up and spending money on [unnecessary items in the free Home space. And it looks like they're doing exactly that. The amount of people with fully customized (as in spent a shitload of money) avatars in Home is ridiculous. Oh and you can start your favorite game from within Home. Warhawk. Yeah I agree, it's somewhat pathetic. But I can see a brighter future for Home on the horizon.
Um, they did bring the Namco space to U.S. Home. And in that space you can win the Idol master clothes and creepy mask as well as other things. But I see where you're coming from. It would be nice if it was universal, but doing that would probably cause a bunch of lag since people from all over the world be joining in one room. I mean Home is kind of laggy enough as it is regionally. I can only imagine what it's like if it was universal. Instead of one big universal server, they should give you the option to hop onto another regions server. This would probably cause less lag and still give the same effect as a universal server.
Aha! I didn't know it had restrictions. That's dumb. Now about those pick up bars...
Haha!
If you have an American account or Japanese account you can use those to check out Home from other regions.
Sorry about that. Just shows what happens when you go by assumptions
@ Takeshi
That goes against the point he was trying to make. He doesn't want to have to have various accounts to check Home in other regions. He thinks you should be able to go on any region at any time. And I agree with him. I don't like how one region gets one thing while another region gets another.
Good point.
