Our absolutely massive review of Prototype featured the views of three of our editors, and came with a bonus music video. The end result? A respectable score of 7.5 out of 10. That means that we feel it's a solid game. And it is. It was solid enough for the original asking price of $59.99, and so it's definitely worth the limited-time price of $40.
The good folks at Steam have dropped the price of Activision's latest action game by 20 percent, letting you nab it for $40. This price is good through August 13th, or about a week. Not bad for such a new game. I guess that this is one of the better parts of being a PC gamer -- you get things for cheaper and see more sales. I think it'll be awhile before we see price drops on the console version.
Have any of you tried the PC version? If so, how does it compare to the console one?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I meant 20% off $60. Either way, my nitpick is now null and void because I suck.
I'll only buy their games used after Kotick's recent comments.
I'll never pay $60 for a game.
Or wait for the "Activision MEGAPACK" for £9999999. One or the other.
And as for the PC version of prototype, even being a HUGE PC gamer, the PC controls for 3rd person games always feel wonkey to me. I just ended up playing it with the 360 controller anyways. And the graphics didn't seem any better in spite of me being able to run games like Crysis at almost max settings.
I think.
Prototype was weak anyway, unless you're 12 years old.
We've been over and over this here, and the consensus is that Prototype is better. The crowd hath spoken, and you sir are outnumbered.
didn't InFamous win the "game debate to death" tho? eh?
Spend that $40 on a crapload of cheap steam games, and Plants Vs. Zombies.
The 85 for Infamous and 78 for Prototype on Metacritic would appear to disagree with you.
Yeh, true. I've only played InFamous and I enjoyed it for about 5 hours and then it became repetitive drivel. The comments around Dtoid have served to convince me that Prototype is probably much more enjoyable, but whatever.
This argument is long dead.
Chronic Logic: Activision, and they have been for several years. When EA is the top publisher again they'll be the worst. Seems to be the nature of the business.
It's a bit fuuny that there is a sale for this game on d2d too this week but this blog reports only on the one on steam where the price is much higher, we all allready know that you all are the bigest valve fans stop trying to show it so hard.
Getting the leg up on the competition does wonders for sales. Lower price, get on Steam....do what you gotta do to seperate yourself from the pack.
