When Prototype was announced way back in 2007, I was almost immediately sold on the concept. Sandbox games rank among some of my favorites, even if they often times have their fair share of faults (see: Mercenaries 2).

As time went by, I slowly became less and less interested in Prototype as almost everyone who got to play the open-world game had mostly negative things to say. And wouldn't you know it, I'm once again anticipating Prototype thanks to the video above.

It's sort of hard to pin down exactly what's changed since the last time we've seen in-game footage, but I suppose you could call the gameplay more ... refined. In particular, the shot where the player-controlled tank is blasting civilians looks incredibly fun.

Does this trailer do anything for you guys? I'm still very much skeptical, but my perception of Prototype has definitely changed for the better.

I was definitely excited about this when it was first revealed.

That said, I'm still not sure if the video did anythign for me. I mean, I'll still play it, but it seems like more of a rent than a purchase.

Got my attention for sure but it has a lot of potential to be another over hyped pile of whatnot that caters almost exclusively to the current generation of "gamers": all flash and no substance.

Trailer doesn't do much for me, but still the concept sounds interesting.

Yeah this and Infamous both look great! However Im not a big sandbox game fan. I played Fallout 3 and while it was amazing all the quests and stuff you can do I did want to travel the wasteland, It took to much time. I got to about 10 hours in and I couldn't play anymore. Same way I felt about GTA4. I can only take sandbox games for so long and then I get tired of it. They just arent for me, however since im playing through Bioshock it does have some sandbox elements, only not as much of a grand scale. I enjoy linear paths, but thats just me.

Anyone else getting an incredible Hulk ultimate Destruction vibe off that thing? Like they gutted the game and slapped the uber badass into hulk's place?

Necro-beast, you are getting that vibe because the team that made hulk Ultimate Destruction is making Prototype. basically they are the same game, he even elbow drops tanks like the hulk. The difference is the Hulk was teen, and this guy cuts people in half with is T-1000 like arms and absorbs them. Right there. That my friend is an EPIC WIN!!!

This trailer looks great, but does it accurately represent gameplay? I don't think so.

I was incredibly excited when this game was first announced, but when they said that they were removing Co-op I immediately lost quite a bit of interest in it, though was still eagerly anticipating playing through it as a rental. After seeing this though, I'm completely torn down the middle as to whether or not I actually want to purchase it.

I will be quite sad if this game ends up sucking...although to be honest I liked the look of the early design of the tentecle/morphing thing he had...it was refined and solid this new one is a lot more overcompensational with dozens of particles and unnecessary flashiness.

Being a mega Hulk:Ultimate Destruction fanboy, I was sold on this the minute it was announced, just because of who the team behind this is.

Hulk:UD is IMO the best comic-book game EVARR!!1!

Fuck Spiderman.

If it's anything near to what seems to be promised in the trailer, i.e. the mobility and speed of a good Spider-Man game combined with the [Hero Name] SMASH! of Ultimate Destruction, I'm sold. Ultimate Destruction is one of the best comic book adaptations to date, and getting anywhere near that is a step in the right direction for a sandbox game.

All they'd have to do to get my $60 is make Hulk: Ultimate Destruction in HD. Fortunately, they seem to be doing far more than that. Prototype looks awesome, and every bit of footage I have seen of it has made me want it more.

Crackdown almost satisfied my idea of the perfect sandbox for me. You had incredible movement and huge destructive power, it just came a bit short on the movement for me. Spiderman 2 was my favorite open game in terms of movement freedom. When you max all of spideys powers then you can go as fast and as high as you want. You just can't blow up the entire city at will. GTA on the other hand offered great destructive fun but obviously doesn't offer much flying or anything. These vids make it look like my dream sandbox game; I just hope it delivers.

this better have co-op put back in and have an online freemode similar to GTA4. can you imagine 16 mutants tearing a city up? i think i just creamed.

The trailers look amazing and I am really looking forward to this game, but I'm also still a bit skeptical that it can live up to the hype.

I disagree with the headline. I think the game is looking more and more pointless. Cool, maybe.. but too chaotic to determine the motivation behind it.

Considering Prototype and InFamous are pretty much in a race to create the exact same game and all signs point to InFamous getting to the finish line first, that will probably be the one I choose.

They did this game right not releasing it last year when the flood of games came out. Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, and a bunch others would have been better off with a slight delay.

Of course distancing itself from the crowd won't do it any good if they didn't make this game any good.
