Prototype comic hits news stands photo

Haven't been in your local comic book shop in a while? Then you probably missed the news that Prototype has a comic book, and that the first in the six part mini-series is out for all to enjoy. The comic launched this past week and is full of illustrated panels and word bubbles -- I assume. To tell the truth I'm not even sure where my nearest comic book store is or if news stands even carry them anymore. I'm a bad nerd, I know.

For those of you who still partake in the wonderful medium of comic books, the story follows some New York City detectives who are on the track of a serial killer. Most likely this killer is Prototype's anti-hero, Alex Mercer, as he struggles to find himself in the events leading up to the game. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray penned the story with art from Darick Robertson.

What about it? Are you intrigued enough by Prototype's story to get the comic books?

I'm not really into video game to comic book adaptations. Especially if the story is retold through an intro and/or cutscene in the game.
But, I'm probably going to pick it up anyway just to see if my stingy ass was right.

It seems like it could be interesting. I will probably go steal it from my local comic book store since I will be in the area anyway.

Oh, and when I say steal, it's exactly what you don't think I do mean.

Well, I know that I got a little sampler from NYCC and it wasn't too bad. If it turns out like the Dead Space comic did, then I might consider it.

Let me just say Cowzilla has at least doubled the amount of new stories here on an average Saturday night. Props.

And this sounds/looks pretty interesting.

That is a really strong creative team. I wasn't really interested at all before, but I'll definitely give it a flip through at least the next time I am in a shop.

Wait, the game didn't even come out yet, how are they making a comic out of it already? In fact how did they even make the first issue? Now that's aside, is the comic going to focus on the plot of the story of Alex and find out who he is and why he was created to be a monster? Or is going to foucs on Alex destroying the shit out of the military and causing as much havoc as possible? I'm rooting for the latter.

@ Chronic Logic: It ties into the game. It is not the plot of the game told in comic book format. That would be foolish.

I might check this out. As I used to read comics when I was younger but then I stopped, but I picked up the Watchmen graphic novel just before the film and it resparked my interest, still got to see the film.....I doubt it's as good as the novel. Anyway I'll be checking this out, if it's available in the UK that is.

I'm still a little iffy on this. I do like the way the story is supposed to be revealed in the game (consuming people and gaining their memories), but I have a feeling the story itself won't be particularly compelling.
