While I can't say I was wholeheartedly impressed with every one of the Wii U's offerings at PAX this year, one game did stand out as a fun and unique addition to the system's growing compendium of third-party titles.
Project P-100, the latest from Platinum Games, pits superheroes against aliens in a battle to save earth from supernatural annihilation. Players recruit and control citizens with Pikmin-like precision, solving puzzles and fighting bosses along the way. Accrue enough citizens and you'll be able to shapeshift them into larger-than-life weapons to use against your enemies. Sound like something you might be interested in? Check out the video above for the rest of my hands-on impressions!
I think P-100 is at a tie with Pikmin as funnest looking Wii U game right now. It is ridiculous that Nintendo spent so much time at E3 showing off Nintendo Land when they didn't even mention P-100.
Dude I feel the exact same way. I waited to play ZombiU, thinking, hoping that it would 'wow' me into being a weeoooh believer... the fragdoll chick told me 'it's better if you play with the joystic / tablet higher up, so you can see the radar'
....
right... so the optimal joystick positioning is hands stright out, at 10 and 2....
That actually looks pretty good, as long as the software keeps flowing I may be picking one up Christmas 2013 when there will either be a price drop or 2nd hand hardware.
I think the WiiU will need more original and creative IP like this and ZombiU to really stand out as a must own system. The Nintendo faithful will likely buy it without question, but there are few titles (thus far) that many PS3 and Xbox360 gamers are going to "have" to have.
Unless the controller really adds THAT much to experiences many people can have on systems they already own, there will not be much incentive to buy a new system for them. This will be especially true if Sony or Microsoft announce their next generation of hardware and it is leaps and bounds beyond what they (or the WiiU) offer now.
Maybe Nintendo's first party support can save the system by itself, but I don't foresee the console being nearly as wildly popular as the Wii proved to be. It's "new" features (i.e. a tablet controller, HD visuals, better online support) are either not as impressive anymore like motion control was when the Wii launched or have arguably already been done better by competitors. I don't see it lighting a spark under the average consumer.
I want it to succeed, believe me. Nintendo is better than most companies at pushing the envelope of industry expectations, but I think it will be a longer road to success for them.

Huh.
That was my first reaction after playing ZombiU for the Wii U at Nintendo's booth during E3. Huh.
Now, "huh" usually has a negative connotation, but that is not necessarily the case with this particular game. The "huh" i...
