Project Needlemouse will officially get its real name on Thursday, and we're all pretty certain it'll be called Sonic the Hedgehog 4. If we needed any more proof, Sega has teased a small slice of the new game's soundtrack. It's short, but it sounds magnificent. It's Sonic, the way it's supposed to sound. Just play that video up above for the proof!
Two new pieces of artwork have also been revealed, a revolving sunflower and a palm tree. Like the Badniks, these environmental pieces are old school Sonic mainstays. Sega has all but confirmed that the palm trees will, yet again, hide boxes with Invincibility power-ups in them.
I'll admit it -- Sega has me by the balls on this one. They have to realize that they can't stuff this one up, and the promotion so far has been so self-aware that I'm sure they know what they're doing. I hope they know what they're doing.

I want nothing less than a ps3/360 GORGEOUS 3D sidescroller that lets Sonic do his thing. Hope the pace is toned down a tad more towards the orignal games to.
Ok Sega if you screw this up it's over! And if this works maybe, just maybe Nintendo will see the light and finally make a new Kid Icarus game. There are plenty of us fans out here dying to play!!!!

Sonic goes back to his roots in this retro themed platformer, only this time he's going to need a little help from his friends. 47 new friends to be exact.Plus all new abilities like the potato punch and blob-morph.This is Sonic like you've never seen him before. Nah I'm not buying into it. I've been burned too many times by sonic games to get my hopes up again. They'll probably be making it literally an old school game, which is again not what i want. If they actually make a high-def sidescroller than i'm all in, but I see sega somehow screwing shit sideways
Mega Man 9 was cool. New Super Mario Bros was cool. Mega Man 10 feels like too much.
Basically, Sega, its fine if you make this an old school title. But don't beat that dead horse. Make this to get people interested in Sonic again, then make a true, next-gen, GOOD Sonic game.
I bet the idea of this first got shafted in the boardroom meetings..

The music...holy shit. I haven't heard music that wonderful since, well, Sonic and Knuckles! My guess is that that's only the intro to the intro song, and right when it ends drums kick in, followed by some crazy 80s guitar. Then a voice is heard: "OPEN UP YOUR DREAMS! CUZ IT SEEMS! THAT THE WORLD LIES BEFORE ME I'LL BURST AT THE SEAMS! SPEED IS MY BABY AND RINGS ARE MY LIFE, IN THIS GAME I'LL MAKE A HOT HUMAN MY WIFE!"
And then you press start, then hold right down for about 20 minutes, and you've won!
I know the name isn't official yet, but Sonic the Hedgehog 4? Isn't this like the 25th game in the main series? I understand what they are doing but I would much rather prefer they didn't try to force any numbers in the title.

Well, traditional, platforming Sonic on a console numerically ended with Sonic 3, though there was also Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic CD, and if they are making something that is half as good as those games, I'll be a happy boy.
By calling it Sonic 4, it signifies that they're going back to the old Genesis style of gameplaying. Kinda like Contra 4!
THAT said, you can't just call a game Sonic 4 and do a rehash Sega. Yeah sure, you got some old badniks and some old school environments, but this is Sonic FOUR damnit, you gotta really bring it.

Oh man, Oh man, if this is not to good to be true, then i think i just found my game of the year!!! forget the amazing mass effect 2 (wow the convict can do some damage), the upcoming god of war 3 ( which has u fighting on the armpit of a titan) or the upcoming metroid (can anyone say 2.5d action). Sonic have u really come back???
Ya, if they use the original sonic design with slight change, similar to the transition from sonic 2 to sonic 3, then I will call him sonic. I nver minded the new sonic but he is the one in the ruined sonic games, so i want him as far away from this game as possible, heck when i launch i better see the old skool sega logo with urkel saying SSSSEEEEGGAAAAAAAAAAA.
I'm trying very hard not to get sucked into the Sonic Cycle yet again, but all of the info that is coming out about this game seems like they are actually trying to make a decent old school style Sonic game.
If it worked for Mario, it sure has to work with Sonic right?

It'll be interesting to see how the graphics will be presented. 2.5D? HD sprites? Retro sprites?
