Project: Metroid hopes to become an official LEGO set

Feb 05 // Brett Zeidler    @BrettZeidler

I need this to happen

Have you ever been playing Metroid, and wondered what Samus and Mother Brain would look like as a LEGO set? No? Well, what the hell is wrong with you? At least me and LEGO CUUSOO user Zurtech are on the same page. He has created concepts for three different Metroid sets under the tentative title Project: Metroid.

There's the small Metroid Lab, which features Zero Suit Samus and two small Metroids inside of incubation tanks surrounding a computer terminal. Mother Brain is a medium set consisting of Varia Suit Samus, Mother Brain herself, and two small Metroids. The largest (and coolest) set is that of Samus' Starship, which includes Varia Suit Samus (with her power shoulders), her ship, as well as a large and small Metroid.

Zurtech adds that all sets can be made from existing parts and colors, with a couple exceptions coming in the form of Samus and her suit. If you'll remember, this is why the Legend of Zelda set was originally declined, LEGO deemed the molds too expensive to produce and rejected it at the last second. So, this Metroid set can easily happen; it just needs your support.

[Thanks, Adam Dork!]
