If the new PGR4 trailer is any accurate representation of the final game, I just might join those two in harmony with a little squealing of my own. Titled "The snow in Nürburgring," the video shows how the white stuff on Nürburg, Germany's famous race track will allow you to pull off all manner of slick drifting maneuvers to win the love of spectators and possibly score a date with that girl from your high school biology class. Well ... at least one of those things.
That snow isn't there just to look pretty and pee your name into. Driving physics and vehicle behavior are directly affected by the inclement weather, and should make for some very interesting action. In addition to "the ring", you'll get to haul booty through the streets of Quebec, St. Petersburg, and Shanghai, just to name a few of the ten courses available in the game. None of the others have been announced as of yet, but one thing they did clue us in on was some of the new cars we'll be seeing this time around. Hit the jump to find out what they are.
Prepare to crash the following vehicles into walls and guard rails at high speeds until you figure out the whole racing in snow thing:
Anybody else notice that the environments are totally gorgeous, but the cars look like shit? It's the opposite of Forza's problem. Why can't anybody get it right?
As someone who hasn't (yet) bought a 360 (waiting for the price drop)... what is the difference between Forza 2 and this game? I'm sure I'll be getting one of the two when I pick up my system.
Erm... those better be some nifty snow tires because there's no way in HELL those cars should be on snow... except the subie. I call shenanigans on the racing physics; they should all be sideways.
Rent Forza, buy PGR (3 AND 4, and 2 while you're at it). I'm not even a diehard PGR enthusiast, but the games are excellent nonetheless.
But yes, I did notice the Subaru especially looked weak in comparison to the environments. Honestly, Forza's vehicles didn't look THAT much better, and they certainly didn't look nearly as good as the weathered vehicles in PGR4 (the cars with rain on them).
Although, unlike Forza, PGR4 is still several months away, and anyway if you're not playing the game in the driver seat view, you're doing it wrong. =)
I'm hoping this is just a crappy ealry build we're seeing and they beef things up before the game is released. Everything else is beautiful, I'm looking forward to checking this out.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Forza is a racing simulator and this is more of an arcade-style racer. Get both. :D
