Some of the great games in recent history have taken two genres and combined them into one cohesive experience. Henry Hatsworth spliced platforming with puzzle gameplay, Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes combined puzzles with ...

I'd like to use a time machine to, among other deeds, dissuade Brett from using the headline "Xbox One inherits Rogue Legacy" so that I might use it right now in this post. Hate coming up with these things. But, really, savin...

From now until April 27, Steam is slapping a discount on a wide selection of roguelike games. You can get 20% to 80% off titles like Abyss Odyssey, Risk of Rain, Spelunky, FTL: Advanced Edition, and more. If you were ever cur...

It isn't often that a developer works in tandem with the modding community to deliver a product, but that's exactly what happened with Tripwire Interactive's Rising Storm, the follow-up standalone expansion for Red Orchestra ...

The original Risen was a curious little beast. In a genre so used to empowering the player, letting one live out heroic fantasies in a world full of treasure, choice, and magnificent deeds, Risen was quite prepared to strip y...

[Update: Check out Lo Wang in action in the Rise of the Triad trailer below.] Shadow Warrior and Rise of the Triad have been busy making sweet love to each other to create some new features. On the Shadow Warrior front, a fr...

I wish I was a practical gent, especially when it comes to construction. Unfortunately, I can't even put up a shelf without a lot of hassle, injuries, and the expectation of fanfare at the end. Thankfully, there are a nu...

Bugbear Entertainment knows a thing or two about cars crashing into one another. As the studio behind the FlatOut franchise, they've shown they can create a driving game that melds crazy excitement with solid handling. Ridge ...

Richard & Alice is, ostensibly, an adventure game. It's simply presented, short, indie fare made created by the two-man team of former games journalist Ashton Raze and Lewis Denby. Underneath its brevity and simplici...

Revelations 2012 first came to my attention when a random Twitter pal recommended it, presumably under the impression that I would find something to love in the same way I regularly watch Alien Resurrection and enjoy every sh...

The prosperous settlement of Castletown had everything its residents could possibly desire. Lumbering giants had turned a once barren wasteland into a fertile coastal forest, and like titanic servants they had places mines, p...

I'm told, with increasing regularity, that there are quite a few people who only play PC games they can purchase on Steam. Well, those convenience obsessed folks can now rejoice as Resonance makes its way to the platform. Wad...

As it turns out, people still love some old-fashioned scares. That's evident by the latest news coming out of Capcom's camp: Resident Evil HD Remaster has broken one million units sold since its January release. That's a...

It's difficult to have a unique idea in a genre that's as over-saturated as 'first-person shooter' is. With Call of Duty, Halo, and Battlefield already out there year after year, making a multiplayer game enticing while offering something fresh and unseen is becoming harder and harder for developers to accomplish. The makers of Rekoil: Liberator are proof of that.

I've never been scuba diving, though I imagine it can be quite the relaxing affair. Checking out the reefs, the fish, and just marveling at what is essentially a whole other world sounds pretty wonderful. It would stand to re...

If you told me I’d be playing a brand new Dreamcast game in 2014, back when the system saw its demise in 2002, I’d probably have said you were crazy. It was at that point that Sega moved on to become a software...

In the new downloadable content for Red Faction: Armageddon, "Path to War," you get to take part in the destruction of Mars' Terraformer. Screw you, oxygen! This add-on is available now on Xbox Live (560 Microsoft Points) an...

Wolfire Games' Receiver is a first-person shooter unlike any other I've played. Instead of a quick button press to reload your gun, here, reloading is a much more realistic, multi-step process that requires effort on your par...

In the very near future, the Earth will pass through the ominous "Dark Rift" gravitational plane and superheat from the inside out. In the ensuing chaos -- complete with tectonic plate shifts, super storms, volcanoe...

The original Rambo is more than just a guilty pleasure for action enthusiasts. While the latter two in the trilogy are arguably just popcorn flicks in terms of their overall impact on the industry as a whole, the fi...

Through the course of eight stages, Rain Blood Chronicles: Mirage tells the story of two swordsmen, Soul and Shang. Recent recruits of an assassin order known as "Cabal," they seek answers to the mystery of their disappeared mentor, Jade, lost on a mission against a domineering power in the Martial Realm. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what happened.
